Just like how Black Sabbath are the fathers of metal compared to modern standards. Today's bands grew up listening to bands like Thin Lizzy etc ... so it's good to have a broad musical education. I was into the Police, Doors, Sabbath, Metallica, , velvet underground, Dio etc when I was 14.
