Got an interview tomorrow

Recommended Posts

As the titles suggests, I've got an interview tomorrow. Now, its at the same firm and its a more technical role ie cnc programming, prove-out, tooling and process upgrades. I think I'm seriously in the running as the dept. I'll be working in is the one I helped with prototyping and development 7 yrs ago and been running as team leader ever since. What kind of questions can I ask and when? Obviously one of them will be money and when is the appropriate time to ask this? Its been 13 years since I last had an interview and its fair to say I'm crapping meself.
Thanks for listening thumbs

As you're already at the company, a lot of the usual questions around performance etc you won't need to ask. I would suggest you look at the areas you don't know about, ie future plans/developments? Planning to recruit more staff? Any planned new technology or machines? Are they looking to expand products or client base?

Look at what you established 7 years ago and see how it has changed up to now. Query do they plan to continue changes in the same vein? Is there anything you feel that would be beneficial now?

Regards the question on money, personally I would leave it to the end. They'll ask if you have any questions, if they don't ask you, ask them if they'd mind answering some questions you have? Make a note of a few questions and take them on a piece of paper. If you forget them, take out the paper and read from it. Odds are you'll know the person/people interviewing you, but avoid the trap of becoming too informal, try and maintain a professional and polite manner.

Not sure if this is any use. My last interview was three years ago. Unfortunately I'm in Finance rather than CNC machining. I'm sure there will be plenty of other suggestions over the course of the evening.

Good luck for tomorrow. thumbs

i was always told not to ask about money until you have been offered the position. you can then make a decision as to whether or not to take the job. The companies are usually interested in what you can do for them, not what benefits you get out of it.

So the interview went well - I think. The gaffer was making all the right noises and I answered 99% of the questions he asked and if I didn't know I said so (better to be honest rather than get caught out further down the line). He said I'll know the outcome within the next week so fingers crossed. The money is the same, but I'll be on day shift not 6-2 2-10 and 10-6! Very Happy

Thanks for all your words of support guys, I appreciate it Cool
