Slight change

Recommended Posts

Sold the zed last month for something different. Loved the zed, wish i could keep it as well but after having a few electrical issues, needing a few bits and bobs etc etc, decided to get rid of it and the ace for something else. So yeah, my winter run around so i don't get the thruxton looking shitty. Wont go into details unless anyone wants to know more, but its got pretty much every carbon extra the manufacturer sold slapped on it and its a limited edition.

There not the smoothest of bikes to ride at slow speeds, not even smooth for a v-twin but such a hoot to ride. I will try and get some pictures at the weekend after a good wash, looking a bit white now with the salt and dirt on it!

Looks very nice.

Not my thing, bit fragile for me. Mates have a few and
love them but say they don't like being neglected, not
serviced and bounced off the rev limiter... LOL.

Still real nice if your into them.

get ready for a whole world of pain Sad

Ahh can't be that bad! besides, got more bikes to ride if something goes badly wrong Laughing

I love Twins, The winter run around is also a twin.

Triumph Thruxton = Parallel twin
Ducati Monster S2R = L-Twin
and the trusty NTV650 = V-Twin

Love the sound of them and the engine breaking ( probs physical engine breaking on the duc though! Shocked )

Yeah i can see it being a fragile bike but tbf i don't really thrash bikes.

you dont have to they just seem to go wrong of their own accord.

Last Ducati I rode was a dealers trade in they gave me as
a loan bike (trying to sell it to me) and I broke it on the test ride.
(bent chain adjusters and pulled the wheel out of line)

I decided then maybe they didnt suit me personaly... Laughing

Then again, there's thousands of Harleys out here.
I broke one of them too (several times)... scratch

Now I remember why I ride Suzuki's..... thumbs

a lot of factors could of contributed to the adjusters and alignment. Weight, if it was tightened properly in the first place, how you ride etc etc. I knew what they were like before i bought it and i don't thrash bikes, don't like red lining and seeing what they can do.
The smaller ones like the 6 and 7 are shit, gutless overated things.

You know the problems before you buy these bikes ( or atleast should )

Bladerunner, is your ducati the 2 valve or 4 valve? because the S2R is supposed to be a pretty reliable machine as long as services are kept on top of. thumbs

Nut was done up tight,
Spindle moved forward,
adjuster bolt that pushes it out bent.

Dealer blamed me.
I blamed dealer.

Within 6 months I knew to another, and a magazine had it happen on a road test.

I was told by someone in the trade that it was a design fault
and certain bikes were getting parts exchanged.
(although i've never seen it documented)

I just thought it funny a demo bike didnt make it
to the end of a demo ride... Laughing

The 600 monster is classed as a "learner bike" here.

Below 660cc, over the minimum weight for its horsepower. (Gutless)

Rofl fair enough. Makes you wonder how companies let bikes go with these faults. They must know to some extent from testing that there would be issues Shocked

I can remember all their cam chain issues !

Local lads have had their BMW S1000RR's recalled
for new big end bolts!

B-Kings had new regulators/rectifiers and some got
checked for loose clutch bolts.

Remember the 1st of the Busa's with their alloy
subframes that soon got changed to steel but
Suzuki denied there was a problem?

Suzuki have a lot of reg/rec problems, the gladius and sv was recalled for the same thing earlier this year! would get too hot and be a fire risk

Its a 1098 you know the ones they tried to market saying they were as reliable and cheap to service as any jap 4 cylinder (yeah right).still love it though but next year I have to decide if I love it enough to keep it or cut my losses and get shut.

Shall do Smile Trying to make my mind up.. Do i put my carbon cans on and buy some link pipes, or do i get a new set of cans with link pipes that might suit the bike a bit more?

I guess if i sell the cans before i get bike/link pipes then some standard length stainless big bore cans will do!

No secret the GSX14 would be my choice but the XJR is a great bike.
Got a few mates with them.
Out here the ZRX, CB13 and GSX14 have all been dropped
but the XJR is the only big jap retro naked on sale
(other than the piss poor new CB1100)

A lot of the XJR seem's easier to directly trace back to the FJ range
where as the GSX was a solo stand alone motor.
In some instances this is in the XJR's favour.

Only thing I wasnt over impressed with was the XJR Ohlins,
pretty sure Yam had a major share in Ohlins at the time
and could put their stickers and gold paint on anything they fancied.
The stock XJR Ohlins are not the top end aftermarket stuff folk drool over.

Nice bike, great choice.... thumbs

My carbon ones are a big slash cut but standard bore ( Still fecking loud ) but are 300mm long, big bore standard length are 450mm long so should sound the same its just a case of if these look too short or not cause the xjr is a rather long bike lol
