The ZZR1400

Recommended Posts

Well, been out a few times now and managed an easy 83 miles this evening, and must say I'm starting to enjoy the ride  thumbs   thumbs   Laughing   Laughing   I love you

It is a different bike to the ZX12, riding position feels higher, power delivery seems smoother and the acceleration isn't as brutal, but the speed is  Twisted Evil   Twisted Evil   It seems smooth enough through the bends and, to me, is as flickable through the corners as the ZX was.  I will qualify that as, people that have ridden with me know, I'm not a maniac on the bike and I don't do the whole "knee down" thing. People used to say that the ZX didn't really handle in the corners as it was too heavy, never found that and to me it always seemed fine.

But, back to the ZZR. Feels a bit exposed at the higher speeds. Reminds me, to some degree, of the bandit. Then I remember I have a screen and tuck in behind it  thumbs   Twisted Evil    The headlights illuminate well, so at lower light levels you can still see fairly well and you never lose the road in the darkness. I haven't really opened her up fully yet, want to get a little more comfortable on her first, but based on the way she pulls in 3rd or 4th, taking her top the limit will be "exciting"  Twisted Evil    Ooops   poo

Do I like her more than the ZX? Styling is better, smoother power delivery, almost effortless acceleration. But there was a certain pleasure in the simpleness of the ZX, big engine, big bike, big power. Giving fair thought, I do prefer the ZZR. Will I miss the ZX, of course I will  thumbs

You won't fully appreciate a ZZR until you've had it five years in my view. The better you get to know them, the more capable you realise they are. Smile

took mine round Cadwell and it coped ok, I even went round the outside of a few round Mansfield. Theyre are a bit heavy to throw round compared to an out and out sports bike though, I certainly knew about it after 4 sessions.

Exactly what I found with the ZX. Took me a while to get used to it, but I had started to be more confident in what it cold do. Off to get a few more miles today. Need more familiarisation thumbsTwisted EvilLaughing

Have to agree mate. Came back from Hartlepool late on night so was riding down the 689 at about 11 using moonlight to see as even with twin headlights there was minimal light on the road ShockedShocked So no problems mate. If we're ever caught out thumbs
