Lands end to john o groats

Recommended Posts

I would like to do lands end to john o' groats or the other way round , is there a certain way of doing it ? Bear in mind I live in the midlands ,

And is there anyone who would like to do it with me ?, i want to do it with out pillion , with the minimum of stopping over night s ,and at a fair old pace ,
So any advice ? Who's done it ?

never done it m8 if you could guarantee decent weather it would be good, how long do you reckon it would take I suppose it would depend on what roads you take as I in motorways or twisties.

Plenty of time to log out a route then. I could start at the opposite end and perhaps meet up halfway. And since forum members are so far and wide apart, they could join for maybe 50 mile escorts along the way

Not for me Dave I have to say. It's about 860 miles end to end, so add in your trip to the start and then back home, got to be a ball park mileage of 1,300 if not more. At 400 miles a day that's potentially three stopovers. You'd definitely need at least four though. Take it from me, 400 miles a day on a bike takes some doing. Expect to have no fun at all doing it at that rate, particularly on Britain's choked road network. Sorry. Smile

I have done over 400 mile days before , I know it's not going to be a easy one , but on my own I could soon knock some miles up , it's the challenge I am looking forward to

Jack is spot on. Such challenges usually involve soul searching moments and ' why the hell am I doing this', stll, they are irrisistable.

Ok this is booked for doing John O Groats to Lands End on the 10th June 2017, I will be traveling up to inverness on the 8th stopping over night ,then up to JOG on the 9th getting a early night then up early and travel to LE all in one day ! Stopping at Redruth over night on the 10th and coming home on the 11th , I will be doing this on my own at my own pace funded by myself!
But if anyone wants to give to charity I have set 2 justgiving pages up ,Fundraising for Derbyshire, Leicestershire & Rutland Air Ambulance I might need them one day and so might you ,
And Fundraising for Alzheimer's Society because my father in law is in a home with this horrible disease.
