  1. ok so anyone know which bikes have radial master cylinders as standard?
  2. yeah it is matt, thought they would have had different valves being as it had the different pistons fitted but hey ho as long as it runs well im not too bothered.
  3. so finished grinding the valves in , polished the faces of the exhaust valves and the lips of the inlet ones.
  4. seen this madsod? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/XS850-YAMAHA-1980-TAXED-TESTED-TRIKE-CAFE-RACER-PROJECT-MIGHT-EXCHANGE-/230793818182?pt=UK_Motorcycles&hash=item35bc623046#ht_1052wt_940 nice littel project there, or just ride as is.
  5. i really want a wrinkle finish dick, seen this stuff, which might be ok, never know until you try it though. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/350562433417?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649#ht_1776wt_814
  6. got the head back today from the machine shop. quick skim and a wash, just got to grind the valves in and reasemble with new valve springs and seals etc gotta buy some paint too at some point.
  7. have heard good things about the shoei xr1000. on a different note, only things that go wrong with the fjr1300 we have at work is the exhaust headers crack (£700 for new!) and if you dont use yamalube the cam chain tensioner can become noisy, lovely bikes though
  8. its getting there slowly, i honestly dont think it will be done this year, i could if i cut corners but thats not me lol.
  9. well done chad, looks nice! here was my curvy when i sold it.
  10. cheers folks, dont know if im keeping the clocks yet but cant find anything else i like. finally parts from the US turned up so put the middle drive back together today, new seals all round and 1 new bearing.
  11. had some top yoke blanks made up with stainless steel buttons . think they'll look cool when fitted !
  12. so i needed to repair the top crankcase as somehow it has been damaged. so i bought some of this today, have never used it before but its great stuff. and it goes rock hard within 1 hour. tried to snap it off but its well stuck on there and you can paint over it too. hopefully wont notice it when its painted and back together.
  13. gaz is down the road but i dont like to ask as i know he wants to sell it. it just dont want to start, the diode had gone so we replaced that now it must be a cut off like the side stand, clutch switch , or neutral switch, if it aint that it will be the igniter
  14. cheers chad, its to rule it out to be honest.
  15. as above need to borrow or buy (if its cheap ) a working cdi/igniter/ecu for a bandit 600 please.
  16. so things have been quiet from this lately so thoght i would revive it ! stripped and rebuilt the final drive, was a bit daunting at first but is ever so simple really. only thing i have changed is the seals as all bearings were in brilliant condition and if you replace any bearing you have to set up the gear lash . here is a pic. currently doing the middle drive , which again is nice and easy, just changing all the seals as would hate for them to leak as i go down the road for the first time.
  17. yeah they do seem to have loads of bits i couldn't find anywhere else, might just order it its only £9 quid, cant seem to find a genuine koyo bearing anywhere else
  18. http://www.motorcyclesparesuk.com/product-p/104417.htm they have an old bearing i need for the yam project.
  19. last change of ownership was the middle of last year when he bought it off that chap. cheers streetfighter
  20. no it doesnt seem to have had a frame number stamped into the head tube, its just a factory finish, certainly doesnt look like it has been ground off as its pimply like the rest of the frame. the v5 is the current red fronted one. he is looking into it , certainly seems dodgy to me.
  21. i know robbie im exactly the same, but obviously he didnt, its a real shame but i dont see anyway out of it than getting a new frame the engine number matches the v5 but that dont help much lol.
  22. ok so are you sitting comfy? then ill begin....... friend at work bought a second hand zzr600 for his missus as she passed her test last year, his thinking was it would give her something to learn on (plus it wouldent matter if she dropped it) and it would be ideal as she is vertically challenged (in other words a short ) it only cost him £500 and the bloke who was selling it (who also works at the same place as me and my mate) had done everything to it, you name it, it had been replaced , a well looked after bike. it came with 8 months MOT left , fast forward to present day and he booked it in with our friendly MOT tester, gets a call to say he cant start the MOT as it doesnt have a frame number !! got it back to the workshop and he is deffo right, not one there at all! check the v5 and it doesnt have one listed! to say he is annoyed is an understatement , tried getting in touch with the last owner and he is not interested (to be fair it has been a while) think he is contacting the last garage that did the MOT Just thought i would share the story, no idea what he going to do, i would swap frames with one from evil bay but he is not keen to do that due to the work involved...
