It took place in a field and the pub was just over the road I can not for the life remember the venue The rally badge was black and gold enamel round, the sales guy from Apple Motor cycles Hinkley was there he bought me a pint the following week he crashed coming out of Earl Shilton RIP just for got is name.Twig! he was the owner of Apple.

Farmers can use red diesel now to help out during this extreme weather snap


HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) confirmed today that during extreme weather farmers can use red diesel in their tractors to help grit and clear snow from public roads.
Under normal rules any vehicle that is specifically constructed or adapted for dealing with frost, ice and snow – such as a snow plough – can work on public roads while using red diesel.
HMRC recognises the vital role played by farmers in helping to keep rural roads clear. So during this period of extreme weather HMRC will adopt a pragmatic approach to the rules. This means tractors on public roads clearing snow or gritting to provide access to schools, hospitals, a remote dwelling, or communities cut off by ice and snow are entitled to use red diesel.

Funny how when we still had common sense, we didn't need to employ an army of civil servants to come up with these "concessions".
Let's hope someone realises that when we do not have to suffer these insults to our collective intelligence, the country will be a lot better off and a darned sight more entrepreneurial!

Ho I see nice, I had 15 bikes at one time thinned um down to 5 or 6 now,When I 17 I struggled like hell to pay the finance on my first 400 four I clocked up 65,000 miles on that bike,I had one of those big ugly Clipper handle bar fairings but it kept the wind off.And rode up the M6 every May time to Fort William to watch ISDT 2 up with all the camping gear,Later on in life I owned 4 CB400Fs one in each colour they came in Red,Blue,Yellow and Burgurndy just becouse I could!I now only have the yellow un floged the others.I did have 2 TLs flogged um just Have me little XL125 1975

A story about the last motorcycle my dad rode and owned the Yamaha Townmate T80.

My Dad was a keen motorcyclist all of is life and owned many bikes in is time.
This is a little wright up on the last bike he owned before he died Dec 2009.(not a sob story)
He like the Little Yam it was light easy to start As arthritis had set in big time.
And then he was diagnosed with cancer from be exposed to asbestos when he was a young electrician.
I new is days where numbered and to keep is spirits high I suggested that I restore the T80 back to as new condition.
The old man was chuffed as it gave him some thing else to do and think about other than is poor health.
I new I only had a matter of weeks to get the job done and met some good people along the way.
First off was to pull the bike down and get the frame blasted and checked over for rust holes the rear mud guard on theses are prone.
I called the bead blasters they said bring it down with all the other bits that needed doing this I did pronto,They did the lot in a few days.

Which gave me time to get the wheels pulled apart and re-spoked I asked for best chrome rims and stainless spokes and nipples also skim the drums polish the hubs and fit new brake shoes.new tires tubes and rim tapes where ordered.







next call the painters and arranged the whole lot to be sprayed in 2 pack I wanted this to look the dogs and sod the expense.




The engine needed a clutch fitting other than that it was sound


Now the race was on throw it all back together sling it in the back of the van and drive the 150 mile to pops is house.
I deliverd the shiney T80,
My dad was happy with the result and sadly passed away 4 days later.
So chins up and live for the now!

Try and keep to a four stroke motor remember 2 stokes are witch craft!some of these chinese Bikes are quite good for the money.

I did a few years back and it worked well,penny a pint way to go.having said that ASDA are doing 3 x cases for 18 quid some times it might not be wourth the hassel.but may be thats not the point.Not many home brew shops left these days.....
