HWCM Muscle Cars(HWCMMC)

Recommended Posts

The Stingray will NEVER be outdated man..

Info:
The Chevrolet Corvette is an American sports car by the Chevrolet division of General Motors and was introduced in 1953.
The 50's ones were in my opinion the most beautiful and organic looking.
First Vette
C1 generation (1953-1962)

Then came the one we were more familiar with..
C2 generation (1963-1967)

The interesting thing about this Vette was the "Split rear" windscreen. Some new owners who bought the car cut the split part out so they could have an unobstructed view of the rear. Little did they know that doing that halved the value of the car in the future. Sad

C3 generation (1968-1982)
The third generation Corvette (C3) was patterned after the Mako Shark II concept car.It sold in record numbers despite changes due to EPA regulations and the gas crisis of the 1970s. During the 70's there was this thing called the "Oil Embargo" .

The 1967 Oil Embargo began on June 6, 1967, one day after the beginning of the Six-Day War, with a joint Arab decision to deter any countries from supporting Israel militarily. Several Middle Eastern countries eventually limited their oil shipments, some embargoing only the United States and the United Kingdom, while others placed a total ban on oil exports. The Oil Embargo did not significantly decrease the amount of oil available in the United States or any affected European countries due mainly to a lack of solidarity and uniformity in embargoing specific countries. The embargo was effectively ended on September 1 with the issuance of the Khartoum Resolution.)

All this did though was the Americans then made new rules to lower their fuel consumption rated of the cars made after. So you will see in the 70's a lot of American cars had options for engine capacities way.. WAY under the 4 - 5.7 litre cars they were used to. My uncle had for the shortest time had a late 70's 2.4l Ford Mustang at a time..

Some sections of this info were taken from what I know, knew and additions from Wikipedia just for confirmation.

Anyway that's all for now. I gotta go back to work..

You'd be surprised. Lots of cars in this thread AREN'T muscle cars... like the Nomad for example.

as for the Vairy8... it is aHot Wheels design based on a 1960's Chevrolet Corvair which is the only American car ever made to feature the engine at the back.

.... but the VAIRY8 I think should NOT be in the muscle car thread as it doesn't use the original name... but that's just my opinion.
