COMPARED : Maisto & Majorette vehicle haulers.

Recommended Posts

This is for Sinclair. He got me thinking also as they look the same. But after going through both of them, there are quite a lot of difference. Firstly off the shelf, The Maisto retails for RM16.90. While the Majorette one goes for RM19.90. With collector safe packaging for the Maisto and blister pack for the Majorette.

Even though they may look similar in their packaging, once outside, they are different. First is the length. The Maisto is longer by 10cm. The length is actually from the trailer and not the cab.

The cab has similar length. Another difference is, the Majorette has metal chassis. In fact its all metal. The Maisto only has metal on the top. The chassis is plastic. A real surprise is they weight almost the same.

Both have opening loading ramps. But the Maisto have better details on the ramp and external ramp door. But Majorette does not use the same color for the top ramp and door compared to Maisto.

On the metal trailer both have the same black color. But again the Maisto has better details on the ramps. The raised diamond floor is more pronounced on the Maisto. While the Majorette's design has more gaps between the diamond floor.

Both the trailers have removable top ramp. This is to allow a bigger and higher vehicle to be tranported. The ramps are not interchangable between Maisto & Majorette. One is too short and one is too long.

On the Maisto hauler, the cars are in a flat position. The cars positioned would easily stay in place. And the extra length makes placing the cars a little more flexible as you can place 2 long cars without them bumping into each other.

On the Majorette hauler, you can place 3 cars too. But the top ramp is pretty cramped. You can see the second car on the top has its back hanging precariously. And somehow, Majorette made the ramps arc backwards. So the front car will slide back. It may look bad. But it makes sense once it is in play. The car will not move around. The Maisto one will.

Final words : Both have their pros and cons. Like whole metal cab for the Marjorette, and longer trailer from Maisto. Price wise, Maisto seems to be at the upper hand here. Maisto wheels are at scale with the regular 1:64 cars. The Marjorette looks more in scale overall because of the large cab compared to Maisto. Haulers offers die cast car collectors a great idea to display the cars even if they do not collect the hauler themselves.

Thanks for the comparison, net. Great pics and explanation highlight clearly the differences.

I find it strange why the Majorette's top ramp is sloped. But I'm attracted by the all metal cab.

I have the time to it yesterday, so why not? I would not know the differences too, just by holding them. Anyway the Majorette trailer actually sloped back because the cab has higher trailer connection part. Oh, both trailer can be borrowed by each other.
