More "good news"

Recommended Posts

Been to see a specialist today and the good news is they have found the cause of the pain I have been suffering for the last two an a half years
the not quite so good news is I have to have a total hip replacement
sooner rather than later
Just as the weather looks like improving theyre gonna hack me about and then i wont be able ride the bloody bike for at least 3 months or longer.
need to get some riding in before the operation which i expect will be done for the middle of summer Sad
tbh not even sure of the wisdom of riding after the op may have to wait 12months, suppose i need to discuss that with the sturgeon shake finger

Hope all goes well for you Neill, quite a big op but it will be worth it if it relieves the pain you've been suffering and as for the bike I can't see why you can't return to riding after the op thumbs as long as enough time is given for recovery but as mentioned best to speak to the specialist.

Hey Neill,

I work in elective orthopaedics, If you have any questions re your THR just ask. But it will be 12 months recovery and you will need to put the work in rehab wise for it to be 12 months.

Just like to ad my best wishes ,and also let you know, my wife has had both hips & both knees replaced, she says the knees were the worse to have done, she got over the hip replacements much quicker, and less discomfort.----

hope that might ease your mind a bit thumbs

well been to see the surgeon today, he told me that looking at the x ray my hip is totally shot and a total replacement is necessary for me to get any quality of life back.
He then offered to do the procedure this Monday 15\4\13 affraid

I said I thought this was a bit too soon ( my wife has her hand in plaster.. that will teach her to laugh at me limp)

we settled on 20th may gives me a chance to fill the bike with oil etc
and I can look forward to sitting out the summer with a pair of crutches to ride round on jawopw

Have fun this summer and ride safe I will be thinking of you violin

Not being funny but I hope it's a bloody good summer after this long long winter.
You'll be able to sit out in the sunshine and hear the bikes go past.
