another bike shop I cant trust.

Recommended Posts

Bought my bike from Hunts in Manchester about 2 months ago and before I picked it up they said they would give it a full service and it would get everything it needed. Just to satisfy my own curiosity I decided to change the oil and filter today and theres no way on Gods earth that oil and filter were changed, the oil was dirty and thin and the filter was covered in road crap. Its only done 800 miles since I bought it. It really makes me wonder if there are any reputable dealers out there any more as from my experiences with mine and the Mrs's bikes I don't think I will ever have a dealer service my bike again.

I do as much as I can myself.
No spotty apprentice snapping lugs on my fairings or going on joy rides.

Also you know only the best quality parts used. thumbs

Always service me own bikes, you would think dealers would bend over backwards these days with the current climate

can tell ya from the car dealerships ive worked they don't give a censored they just want ya money

And from a technicians point the pressures on to get stuff in and out as quick as possible to try and earn some money/bonus

they say shit rolls from the top of the hill to the bottom and it does

best thing I did was get out

Dealer servicing is for those who don't trust themselves to change a light bulb and have loadsa dosh to fritter away. For the lucky ones amongst us with an iota of bike know how DIY is DO IT RIGHT thumbs

And contrary to popular myth own servicing does not invalidate your warranty - unless they can prove you've done it wrong Cool

Yes you can sign the service book yourself, keep reciepts for oil, filter etc as proof.

I agree stealers are robbing barstewards,i do my own bikes, but there are times when you need specialist equipment or knowledge and I have found that the one man bike repair shops are usually pretty good and honest, mind theres always the odd exception.

thats bad!
ive found a local bike shop, that just does mechanical etc. and they are the dogs danglies. he keeps posting pics on facebook of stuff coming from main dealer history such as leaving an old copper washer on the sump and putting new one on rather than just replacing it fully etc!

and due to being an industrical unit not a shop he charged 1/2 the price. to service my bike to keep history goinf he told me £70 as i get 10% discount for being on kentsussex bikers Smile
