tyre question

Recommended Posts

depends if its 180 or 190, its 50% or 55% of the tyre width so a 190 50 would be 95mm from the outer edge to the rim and a 190 55 would be 104.5mm. Its enough to make a difference to the feel of how the bike turns in and also it will alter your speedo reading slightly. another thing to watch for is the sidestand length, if you put a taller tyre on the bike will lean over more on the sidestand.

my bike had a stock rear on 200/50 but because of tyre choice and recommendation about tipping in corners quicker , I put a 190/55 on last time , how much did this lift the bike do you think ??

That was a long test ride .

Was that solo or with a co pilot ?

Does this mean your not lowering it now with the 50 profile or is this with the lowering kit ?

You've gone from a taller than stock tyre
to a tyre of similar shape to stock but smaller
in width and height.

Not a huge amount and fine on a 6" rim still.

You should notice a slight difference in straight line
stability and its eagerness to turn into corners
or maybe a lack of.

The downside is most folk who change tyre sizes do it
changing from old familiar worn out tyres to something
that is new in both size and wear and maybe type
so its hard to get a balanced opinion....

..... if any of that makes sense ?
