The Vancouver Olympic Winter Games will take place from 12 to 28 February 2010.

Vancouver won the bidding race to hold the XXI Olympic Winter Games in February 2010, beating off competition from seven other prospective host cities in the process. The final decision was made at the 115th IOC Session in Prague on 2 July 2003, bringing the games back to Canada twenty two years after their previous appearance, in Calgary in 1988.

The Games will be staged across two venues within the British Columbia region, with ice events and two skiing events to be based in the Vancouver area, while the Alpine, Nordic, Sliding and Paralympic disciplines will all take place in Whistler, approximately 120 kilometres north of Vancouver. Whistler will also play host to the 2010 Paralympic Winter Games, which will happen from 12 to 21 March. The venue for the Opening and Closing Ceremonies will be Vancouver’s BC Place Stadium.

With a focus on sustainability, all of Vancouver 2010’s venues, including the Olympic Village, are being built with post-Games usage in mind to create sustainable legacies for Canadian sport. The Vancouver 2010 Organising Committee describe their ultimate goal as “Putting on a Games that will inspire their nation and promote the Olympic spirit both within Canada and worldwide.”

Yes, it's always a shame about that, as there's nothing like being able to watch stuff live as it happens, and really feel the atmosphere and excitement.

This is the website for TEAM GB HERE

and links for the schedules

Click for Complete Schedule Here

Day By Day Schedule Here

and if you want to follow a specific sport check its schedule Here (sorry GB only)

Please post your news, the triumphs and disasters, and any comments and keep the thread lively Smile

My family is looking forward to this so much! Does anyone know if there will be any website carrying the games? (Just I wish, I suppose). Seems like TV cuts the coverage back a bit more every year.

1.45am? I really want to watch it but I'm not sure if I will get up at that time just for that.

I know that one of my favorite (and one of the most famous - home and abroad) ice hockey player will be the one carrying Czech flag.

Yup, speed skating is starting approximately right now!

It's the mens 5000m.

Then, 5 hours later (from now), it's short rack speed skating, men's 1500, 42 minutes after, it's ladies 500m followed by men's 1500 semifinals.

Then at 2:50GMT, it's ladies 3000m relay semifinals.

At 3:18, it will be men's 1500 finals

I hope i did my math right.
