  1. Told him I would go down. The bastards deserve a good beating. Believe me it took an awful lot to stop him, he does have bit of a short temper and as much as I agree with everyone's sentiments it really wouldn't do him any good dealing with the consequences of his actions or maybe I just think to much
  2. its not Dave its a shame cos he works bloody hard on minimum wage and took out a bank loan to get the car I have given him a good chunk of money to help him through this because it was the last straw in a long string of bad luck and just to put the boot in while he was putting his bike away (Kawasaki zx10) its rolled off the side stand and hit the deck. ruptured the fuel tank snapped the clutch lever and snapped the side panel, can it get any worse. anyway to end on a bright note it didn't rain today
  3. They sound brill Mike and look stunning. Money well spent Mark you lucky boy!
  4. Is there something wrong This is what happens folks if you don't do regular oil changes the camshafts are hollow and because the oil has cooked the oil passages have blocked and the exhaust camshaft has run dry resulting in it snapping in half we're hoping the valves arn't bent but further investigation will reveal that He also has no comeback apart from going to Halifax and beating the seller half to death because he paid instant bank cash transfer and had the car delivered stupid I know but we live and learn
  5. It is nice to just tinker in the garage when I have some spare time Dick, very therapeutic! Its the rev counter that not working correctly, there must be an electronic pick-up for it somewhere but I'm buggered if I can find it.
  6. I bought one from Chad a little while ago Dave, not sure what make it is and had a lot of Chinese writing on the box but its been brilliant I'll have a look tomorrow and look at the make, I have a Abus Granite as well but its very bulky and heavy. Hope you find one to suit your needs mate!
  7. Great pictures Dave! You were did well to miss the rain and the bike is looking very clean.
  8. Been doing a bit of work to a Kawasaki ER5. I bought it possibly for my daughter after she passes her mod2 or for a winter hack for me. It has a world of issues but I'm slowly working through them. Its not a project so I'll leave that section to the Ian's (madcarper) of this world but this is just one of the bodges I have come across These are the wires for the regulator/rectifier held in with mastic, while I was doing the carb balancing and turned the idling up they started smoking like Mark and Dick on our last rideout Its the wrong one for the bike so a second hand one is winging its way courtesy of Ebay This is the bike, so far I have sprayed black the front forks, footrest hangers, radiator shroud and swinging arm. I have renewed the throttle cables, mirrors, indicators, coolant, oil/filter, air filter, plugs, carbs balanced and brakes overhauled. Oh! and new carbon bar end weights which Mark (haveugot1) really hates! Can't seem to get the rev counter working its electronic and with ignition on it rises to 2000 revs and that's it doesn't fluctuate with engine running or not so any advice would be appreciated although I'm not to bothered. Like I said I don't feel its worthy of the project section but I will post any more daft bodges I find as I come across them.
  9. Fantastic pictures Stue, no need to ask if you enjoyed yourselves!
  10. Promised my brother to help on an engine rebuild on his BMW, bent or dropped valves. Some plonker towed it all the way from Halifax (its an automatic ) so transmission is probably knackered too, have to wait and see on that one. If we get it done or as far as we can I'll be there Mike, won't know until Saturday though!

  22. Anyone know much about these screwdrivers or where to source any in the uk , "jis" are Japanese industrial standard screws and are fitted to Japanese motorbikes they have a slightly different taper in their head compared to a conventional Philips screw and is often why they can chew up when using a Philips screwdriver (apart from being made from lurpak!) apparently they are excellent for removing float bowl screws. Looked on Ebay but they all seem to be sourced from the USA and I would rather buy in the UK, thanks for any help! (will replace with stainless anyway but gotta get them out first)
