  1. Well done Grandad and well done Jasmin
  2. Make sure you have bike specific travel insurance, some travel policicies exclude bikes, Dover to Calais return is about £46.00. Last year we rode down to Geneva, stopped on a campsite on Lake Geneva, fantastic (3 days to get there, lost a bit of time to a puncture and also hangovers!). every town in France has a Municipal camp site, these are generally well run and clean showers and toilets, only cost about 5 euros a night.Spent a lot of time riding so this year we did Calais again then pitched up at Arques about 35 miles from Calais, spent three nights there so did a few rideouts from base. Rode over to Normandy and made camp at Bayeaux, municipal site again, for a few days then headed back to Arques a day before ferry return so nice and fresh for ride home. I've got a 2 man tent, lightweight, wraps up to the size of a sleeping bag. Got it from Decathalon, £80 so not cheap but worth spending the money. If on a budget do your own cooking, biggest expense is foosd and drink, single stove ring and bottle will cost about £15

  9. If anybody is looking for a good cause have a look at Royal British Legion Riders, all for our troops past and present. Loads of rideouts etc, dont have to be forces or ex forces to join. This is the official motorcycle branch of the British Legion. web site www.rblr.co.uk I joined last year and think its great, did a memorial run on sunday, ended up at the arboretum in Alrewas, 89 bikes
  10. I'm not too far from you may have to meet up and check it out. I've short listed about 3 helmets and got someone on eBay that can do me the Viper with Pinlock for £149. Paid about £140 for mine on ebay. there is helmet noise at speed but you can still hear warnings from tomtom. Music clear upto about 65-70 , thats on 75% volume, from iphone. For a decent phone conversation I would say about 50mph, only used this once though but the recipient didn't know i was on handsfree on a bike, and my side was very clear. I would certainly recommend thie viper, but, having said that, I dont have anything to compare it with.
