Wassup Sue? Not been able to be on line much lately due to other commitments, did I miss something? Perhaps we can help if it's a mechanical thing?

That sounds like you were lucky then Shocked I love Ducati's but ive never owned one and dont think i ever will purely because of there reliability issue's and shocking service price's hide ile stick with japs, not one has ever let me down banana

agree I'm afraid I'm going to have to agree with Stu here. I wouldn't dis anyone's bike and they certainly look the business. I can remember a few years ago some poor bloke I knew had one and it seemed like every time he tried to ride the beast something went wrong, up until the clutch unwound it's self and things became terminal. Bloody lucky you caught it before any piston/valve interfacing occurred though. Perhaps I'll have one when I'm rich, all donations to.... thumbs

I don't know anything about the above post but my mate bought a new B12 off them in 1996.

And in 1997 we both bought new Thunderace's

This was when Imports were popular because we saved over £4k each.

Both were full power we had them about 7 years and the bikes never missed a beat.

Not sticking up one way or another but you can only speak as you find..

Don't mean to start any arguments but D & K were raided and there was a resulting prosecution for the stolen bikes they were breaking. This is fact. After the number of bikes I have had stolen I couldn't give anyone involved in the stolen bike breaking business money no matter how good the deal they were offering. They have been constantly implicated in all sorts of dodgy dealings.

Personally I know for a fact that the stolen bikes stories are true but am not inclined to explain in a public forum. I suppose its a moral compass thing.

I hate stuff like this as I know 'stuff' but for my own reasons can't explain thing which might change peoples minds. Hey ho, I leave it to you guys to decide...

  4. Ordered a set of Maxxis for my VFR at 10 yesterday morning, received them at 3 this afternoon. Big up to DK Motorcycles again for stonking service and a good price. I'll try & get them fitted this week as my first steps in preparation for this summer's tour. thumbs

Good to hear a positive story about customer service thumbsthumbs

Seriously guys, DK have the reputation as possibly the most unscrupulous motorcycle dealers in the UK. I will not say how I personally know this for a fact but I do. Please google them and see a few other peoples experiences. If you hate people who are involved in stealing motorbikes don't give your money to them... I'll say no more thumb down

Speed... No idea, I don't look at the speedo. When I ran a dealership in Germany I had a section of autobahn as my test track so just went by when the rev limiter kicked in in top gear bike2

    fast then Very HappyVery Happy

Yeh quite quick lol! Gets a bit dull though after a few months. We (the squadies and I) used to have this 'circuit', well ok they were public roads, around the back of a place called Hövelhof. Fab, ZZR 11's GSXR 11's and Blades bouncing off the rev limiters on the autobahn then into the twisties. Oh, those were the days, and oh how the german civil police loved us fofl
I remember them grabbing on poor guy who was totally innocent after the infamous 'lets use both sides of Paderborn high street as a drag strip' incident.

I got an old CB650 sat around for a few years without being run. It wouldn't start as the carbs were all gunged up with old petrol. I got some Wurth Carb cleaner, works wonders; the bike started up straight away.

Ah Wurth, now you're talking my language and a reasonable price too. Have to open an account with them tomorrow.

Wurth, why didn't I think of them slaphead

    thankyou

Is that an alloy frame tony, will be nice and light if it is.

Yeah, Alloy frame and swing arm.

Lad delivered it today, with a box of spares.

Not sure what to do with it yet,
but an oil-cooled Bandit 12 motor will
drop straight in if I can find one.

sorrythread hijacked You have the cleanest and prettiest workshop in the world Tony and I'm jealous> My bike isn't as shiny as you bench. This is unfair shake finger

  8. Been looking at this thread for a bit now and am going put this bluntly.

When I used to work at bike dealers years ago I used to dread this time of year. Everyone dusting their bikes off on the first few nice days of the year. We were on the pick up rota for the insurance companies. The long and the short of it was we had to go out and pick up what was left after the unthinkable had happened. Not nice and this has a lot to do with the way I ride and drive nowadays.

To moral of this story is 'RIDE SAFE OR I WILL PERSONALLY COME AND DO UNSPEAKABLE THINGS TO YOUR GRAVE' it's not down to the person who is lost, people should see the mums and dads, husbands and wives and kids left behind. I'll never forget a guy who was a customer's mum saying to me that see expected to see him walk through the door everyday. So sad... Sad Be safe

That said normal service is now restored.

Had a look at the ad but it doesn't say what the wattage of the new lights are. Most flasher units have a rating printed on them for eg 12v 21w x 2. Sounds like the new ones are too lower wattage thus presenting too smaller load to the relay. A simple fix would be to fit a ballast resistor in line to increase the load. Can't give you a value off hand as I don't know the ratings for th flasher or wattage of the bulbs but wire wound are designed for this application and once you have the ratings it's simple to use Ohm's law to get an Ohms value.

    Wadyamean??? It's simples. Maplins smackfofl
Yep, that's as clear as mud to us thick folk tumble weed
