eight [HWCM 1st group built] - Mustang Fastback

Recommended Posts

HWCM 1st group built - Mustang Fastback

From the photos i see the car does not need much customization other then the colour and the details... because the hot wheels car is very well done in casting the car as accurate as the real car. im just just going to do my best in custom the colour, details & maybe the wheels... Smile

to remove tempo u can use nail polish remover... dip it on a tissue and then wipe it slowly on the area that got tempo that u want to remove... if u can cover the area like the wind screen and the wheels... try on cars that u dont want anymore... test fisrt before doing it on some nice car... Smile

haha.... well to avoid being EmbarassedEmbarassedEmbarassed just go into the shop and ask the shop asistant for a nail remover... so they will assume u dont know how it looks like and thinking that u buy it because someone maybe ur mom, sister, gf or else order it from u..... hehe

The movie car and the hotwheels car's bonet a bit different.....how to make it smooth and flat?

to answer mr. danoneism, mr. jhc7598 & mr. cham,
the dye technique is very simple & easy & im also still new to this technique...
to get the best result on this technique used light colored cars... the end result will not be the exact of the dye... it may varie... 1 advised given to me is that silver coloured cars are 1 of the best cars to use to dye... u can use any other colour cars too no problem... its all experimental and trial & error

Arrow first buy the dye... here in the photo u can see im using DYLON dye... it cost about RM5 -RM6
ask for "dye kain"... few shops selling it... like book shops, tailoring shops & maybe art shops...

Arrow then put the dye in a hot water and mix it until the hot water change colour, u can use any unwanted cup or bowl or maybe tin susu or tin coke ke... up to you and wash it until clean before using...

Note: Dont use HOT BOILING WATER , if the water is too hot the wind screen of car might melt...

Arrow next dip the car in the hot dye water... leave it for few second and remove it... repeat this step for few time or until u get or u are happy with the colour of the car...

Arrow next wash the car with running water...

Arrow finally clean up after u r done... Razz

Good luck in trying it... and hope you guys show me the photo of the final result after u tried this technique...

huhu... im also still learning la bro.. huhu.. but i think its quite hard to smooth that part since the front hood were casted together... if it was a different casting then just remove the hood add replace it with a new one using pla card...

Eight, that picture u posted earlier is not the mustang that is issued in HW. That one is made in 1967 and a lot of variants. That car is available in this years HW muscle mania release. But none of them had gills type air vents. This is the correct one. A 1965 one.

The FnF:TD is a 1967 one. But if u make it with the HW 1965 one, it would be very odd indeed. Its the wrong car for FnF. But do like the techniques used on the car.

Just to chime in a little more....

Dye
- Water temperature, amount of the dye used, also the amount of water determines the strength of color on the car.

- Light coloured (any color) cars are the best, pearl colors even better of course (silver/white), darker toned ones may not differ much but only gets darker

- You can mix 2-3 or even more to have different colors, but you must have some basic knowledge la on colors Smile (what mix what gives what etc)

- careful with your fingers, it'll turn color. Use a glove or 'tool' or anything you can use to hold the car together when taking it out.

- once you use that cloth - USE IT ONLY againFOR SAME PURPOSE! IT'S POISON! DANGER!...oh also becareful of your clothings you have on, you don't want tie-dyed cloths after you made a mess Very Happy LOL....

- careful of the area/surface you work on. Once few drops of dye splatters anywhere it's gonna dye that spot if not wiped immediately. So always use common sense! Wink

Tips
- try looking for a container just wide enuff for the entire length of the car, maybe you wanna measure the longest car you have/like to custom. With this you can sort of gauge, the very next time you dye again.

- fill water up to just above the roofline, maybe a little more if you like.

- find a plastic spoon or something to gauge the amount of dye powder you use each time, as I mentioned above different amount of dye & water determines the color - so as eight mentioned - all is trial & error Smile

Links:- (there's a list you can print out - of all the colors you can mix into)

- http://www.chojiro.com/hw/index.html (follow this link to MANY MORE fantastic sites...remember to BOOKMARK them Along the way Wink i get some inspiration from these sites too)

...i know it's tough not having easy access to the materials or paints/colors they get in the USA, but if there's a WiLL - there's a WaY! So go and be creative - think and be on the lookout for just about anything we can recycle, reuse...Go Green! Smile

Elgee, that 65 GT is also not accurate. Its does not have the rear extended arches. The 67 is the correct one. And this years Mustang casting is the correct one.

Its not that u can't use either the 65 fastback or the GT stangs. The 65 fastback is more appropriate as BULLIT model.

But whatever the case, its your call. I'm not nitpicking, i'm just sharing what i know.
