To end the 2009 year, Hot Wheels Collectors Malaysia is organizing their first custom competition ever in conjunction with the HWCM Dinner! This is like a group build, except with prizes which will be awarded to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd places. The prizes are still being confirmed, but here are the rules and regulations:

1. Contest is open to all HWCM members from Malaysia, Singapore and Brunei ONLY.
2. One member is allowed to submit ANY NUMBER of custom entries they want, but one member is only eligible for ONE prize.
3. All entries should be based on at least one HOT WHEELS casting, selected from the 2009 NEW MODELS/PREMIERE line. (eg. Ferrari California, La Fasta)
4. All parts used for customization must be scratchbuilt or taken only from other Hot Wheels casting.
5. Registration for this competition closes on the 31st December 2009.
6. All custom entries must be submitted before 12:00 A.M. (+8.00 GMT), 21st January 2010.
7. Admin and judges for this competition are not allowed to participate in this competition. (Board moderators are allowed to participate)
8. Prizes will be presented to winners during HWCM Dinner.

Question and Answer Section:

--> How are the cars being judged to determine the winner? There are FOUR criterias:

1. Bodywork, Tempo & Paint (30 points)
2. Interior, Wheels & Chassis (30 points)
3. Creativity & Originality (25 points)
4. Popularity (15 points)

For criterion 1, 2 and 3, one judge will be appointed for each criteria. As for criteria 4, a poll will be set up to determine the winner.

--> Should I post a WIP thread for my build?

It is entirely up to you, you can choose whether to post a WIP thread for your custom entry.


--> What if I cannot complete my custom even though I have registered?

Any incomplete custom entry will be deemed invalid.


--> Any registration fee?

None! (You are welcome to TRY and "pay" one of the judges with a "registration fee")


--> Can I join?

If you are not a judge or forum administrator and you are from Malaysia, Singapore & Brunei, then YES!


--> Can I use wheels from other castings (Tomica, Matchbox, Jada, Maisto)? Rubber wheels from Hot Wheels are hard to get!

I'm sorry, but we only allow parts from other Hot Wheels casting.


--> Can I use airbrush?

Yes, you can use any medium to colour your cars.


--> How do I submit my custom car?

Details on your custom submission will be posted later after registration closes! You will be required to post photos or mail in your car, but please be patient as further details are being worked out.


--> Can I get help from other people?

You can only get help for the drilling of rivets. If you are found to have obtained external help for the rest of your custom, your entry will be deemed invalid.

<SHOWROOM> & <SENARIO>

wat is <SHOWROOM>?
-custom works will display as it is (in a display box WITHOUT any accessories blocking all angles).
-model name can be mention via small sign.

wat is <SENARIO>?
-custom works can be display in any form (etc.accident, workshop, garrage,...).
-max 5 cars can be put in 1 particular custom. & is counted as 1 entry.
-20cm x 20cm max for display box.
-senario theme must be shown clearly.

i suggest simple two category
1) best stock form ( non modification to the casting including no wheel swap )
2) best customized form ( scratch building, wheel swaps)

or
1) junior category ( basic detailing etc)
2) intermediate category ( repaint, wheel swap)
3) professional category ( scratch build, wheel swap, repaint, heavy tempos)

hmm i think as of now, the best option is an open category. depending on the response, we may decide to split into categories as you and takata both suggested. until registration is closed, the rules are not final.

Well, the rules state that you can submit multiple entries, so you can choose more than 1 casting if you can't make up your mind.

and sinclair is right, you are allowed to choose a few castings. or combine them if you want. just as long as the main casting(s) are from the premiere/new models

you have been registered! regarding your question, i'm sorry but we have to be strict on this. wheels are only from other Hot Wheels casting. Doesn't have to be rubber though! :-)
