David at my local Burger King!

Recommended Posts

OK....not really.

I was driving through Burger King tonight, picking up dinner for Mr. DP & L'il DP. I was at the window waiting to pick up my food and they had one of those big TV's hanging from the ceiling. Who should I see on the TV but David! Some kind of music channel or something. It wasn't a video or an interview. Just showing picture after picture of David. There was writing on the screen...looked like random facts, but I couldn't tell.

Anyway, I YELLED "Oh my God! It's David Cook!" The window was closed so no one in BK could hear me (I hope) but my daughter said (excitedly) "WHERE?????" (Weird that she was excited, because she's not a fan). I said "On the TV". She laughed and said, "Oh! I thought he was in the restaurant and I was wondering what you were still doing in the car. I figured you'd smack the car door right into the wall, squeeze out and leave me sitting here". (And I totally would have, had he actually been standing in my local Burger King, LOL).

Then I grinned and looked at her out of the corner of my eye and said, "You were excited". And she said, "Well, yeah. He's famous". And, because I'm the child and she's the adult sometimes, I started nudging her and saying "You liiiike him..."

Then our food came and after I took it, I told the guy "Thanks for making my night by having David Cook on the TV". He responded with nervous laughter and "Um...ok. Have a good night".

All I can say is, David had better bring this tour to my neck of the woods. If I'm getting this excited over seeing him on a TV screen in Burger King, it means I need to see him in person again...soon!

This is a great story. It reminds me of a story someone told a couple of years ago about how they were in a store and heard one of David's songs and started to follow the sound till they found where it was coming from. I remember someone posted it's like David's voice is like the friggin bat signal for word nerds. Someone actually posted that. I lmao.

Aww, great story... and yeah, I think your daughter is well on her way to being cookified, even if she doesn't want to admit it. LOL Face

I wish our Burger King would have something like that. Though I did hear TLG in Subway the other day while I was picking up my lunch.

LOL flag Lil DP should just admit that she likes David! I remember standing by the elevators at the Trump Plaza during the AI tour. There were about ten of us staying down in Atlantic City and going to the concert at Boardwalk Hall. TOML was being played in the casino and we all just stood there staring at the ceiling. People must have thought we were all insane.

Lmao!! I just love David for making us look a little insane when it comes to him. I had a moment in target one where i actually heard him playing and dropped what i had ran down the aisle making it practially an annoucement to the whole store that "David Cook is on" . I may have chased some people away from buying his cd.lol

That doesn't happen very often here, does it, Kathy? *pouts*

That's why I love stories like that. One time I heard Heroes playing at the mall and yes, I went to look for the source and stood there pretending to pick out clothes but only managed to clutch on one. When it's over, I moved away, but then I heard LO AND CBTM, so I went back to that spot and listened to the whole record until Permanent when my cousin decided to drag me away from there. Boo. Of course I had to endure the stare of the employees there, but who cares, huh? Very Happy

I was in the grocery store about a year ago when Permanent came on their music system. I stopped short, looked up, and said out loud, 'what the hell?'. People around me were looking at me like I was insane.

DP-love your story!

I heard "Permanent" in BJ's warehouse over a year ago-I kind of raced around trying to find a better spot to hear it as I was standing by some TV display so it was not easy to hear.

Also as I have mentioned before, I heard TLG at "Target" and went over to the electronic area as they were showing clips of the music video promoting the CD. I may have stood there thru a few cycles of other songs waiting for it to appear again. Shocked

This past weekend I was passing through Williamsburg en route to the Outer Banks with some girlfriends and we stopped at the Premium Outlets down there. We heard TLG twice on the mall radio soundtrack lol. Hey- anything to get him heard! He was playing alongside hitmakers- Adele's Rolling in the Deep and Gaga's Edge of Glory, that sort ot stuff. Silly me, I get a little happy whenever I hear it out and about. TLG made not have been a big hit, but it's not buried, either.

That's great news, Chrissie and I would also have been thrilled to listen to TLG next to those hits Great

I'm glad they're playing TLG somewhere. I can't remember the last time I heard it on the radio. And yet it was tweeted yesterday that it was holding steady at #19 on the AC chart. Maybe NY radio has no love for David. Crying

Are you listening to an AC channel, dorothy? Around here, I don't think there is an AC channel anymore, just HAC.

WALK is a huge AC station on Long Island. I've never heard TLG played, not once. I hear TOML a lot, and occasionally CBTM. But that's it.

It guess it hasn't said its last goodbye everywhere.

The other week I played TLM in the car and my BFF said "Oh, I've heard this on the radio" when TLG came on. She's not someone who is waiting with baited breath to hear him so I was thrilled that she recognized it upon listening! cheers

I've never heard TLG on WALK but did hear it on WPLJ 2x when it first came out. I agree, no NY love for this song.

On Sat, I heard it in the beauty salon and it was playing in Sirius, but not sure which station it was.

I think I've heard TLG on PLJ about 4 times, and once on 102.7 (the CT station that sponsored the Six Flags concert). That's it.
