madcarper 0 Posted January 22, 2012 ok havent had much time to work on bike bit hectic at work.had to modify my infill panels when i put new yokes on (slightly fatter than origonals).started painting wheels in the green and black pearl first white basethen the green pearlthen mask up and black pearl stripn mask up and black pearl stripBOLLOCKS pulled of edging tape and its marked the green pearl so did not bother to clearcoat.decided its too much work to put right so new plan (whole bike jet black)decided i am fitting zx9 swinger too as its 30mm longer from wheel spindle to pivot point which will help to keep front end down 30mm is not to much stretch so it should not affect handling to much if it does i can slide the forks up the yokes to shorten the wheelbase a bit.will have to make a jig to swap the shock linkage mounts, quite a bit of work but worth it for the weight i will save using the much smaller zx9 caliper/disc caliper mount and ditching the torque arm plus it really tidies up the backend, and gets rid of them concentric adjusters.will also have to get a new bush made to use zzr pivot spindle as the zx9 spindle screws into the frame and bush.gave the engine a good steam clean looks a bit tatty now more work!anyone see any problems with any of this just shout up i can use all the help i can get cheers Ian. madcarper 0 Posted February 26, 2012 got my swingarm welded upcracking welds but decided to make a couple of infill pieces for the sides of the mounting so as to stiffen it a bit more and neaten the job up,was going to get it powdercoated but decided i wanted to clean up the welds and try to smooth it out a bit so decided to paint instead so etched and primed it should look nice gloss black.also just sent my nitron shock away to have mounting altered and serviced and set up. madcarper 0 Posted March 21, 2012 just got my shock back from nitron fully serviced modified and set up for my weight also got the spring changed for a black one, tis a thing of beuty methinks. just a shame you can't see much of it when it's on the bike.no clearance issues i can see and everything lines up ok.bikes a little tall but i can shorten the shock a little more to drop the back plus the weight of the engine is going to drop it a bit.going to put the gas resovoir for shock under the seat so nice and tidy.nipped up to edinburgh bike show and picked up this headlight really pleased with it nicely made and finished. madcarper 0 Posted April 22, 2012 managed to strip the bike to bare frame today and cut off centre stand and any unwanted lugs, made my alloy fillin panel for obove rear shock. needs to get subframe mounting brackets and a few holes welded up then i was going to get powdercoated but as there is so little to the frame i think i will just paint it.
