Job loss - please pray

Recommended Posts

My husband will be losing his job on Friday (March 6). Please pray for God's direction to made clear to us about what we need to be doing next. My devotion this morning was based in Numbers and my bible said at the bottom of the text that we should not be saying "Lord, where do you want me to go next" but rather, "Lord, what do you me to be doing NOW." However, it's hard to focus on NOW, when NEXT is looming over my head.

I am discouraged as this has been a long ordeal with his job. I have young children and would like to not have to work more than part-time - or not at all right now if that were an option. But going back to work full-time again breaks my heart. It's better than welfare and I know beggars cannot be choosers. I guess I have some bitterness at the idea that it is God's plan for me to take on full-time work right now. But if he has another plan, I sure cannot figure out wat it is. I thought I had a part-time job in hospice nursing lined out, but that has fallen through.

Worst part is that when I pray, I am not experiencing His presence. When I ask, seek, knock, I don't know if I'm getting a "WAIT", or a "NO" or nothing. All parts of my spiritual life seem to be very dry. I have spent time asking God if there is some sin that is blocking our relationship and spent time in confession. If He has an answer to my question about sin, I'm not hearing it. I have some major "thorns in my side", but have continued to honor Him as best I can.

Mostly, I am just really discouraged and tired. SO if you could please pray specifically against these two things I would appreciate it!

Father we thank you for Rnestseekr. Father we thank you that you have thoughts and plans for us and plans to give us a hope and a future. Father thank you that we do not see the whole picture but that you do and you will lead us according to your purposes to where you will have us to go. Thank you that it will be for your glory and your honor and that we will be but the vessel you use. Father we pray today that you would give us encouragement to face those things which we do not understand and give us the ability to trust you even more. We thank you that when we do you will provide for all things because you are Jehovah Jireh our provider. Father I thank you that doors of opportunity are being opened and that the favor of the Lord is on them now and that they have all they need to provide for their family. I pray a refreshing of their spirit and physical body. Father we give you all the glory and the praise in Jesus name,

Amen

your servant,

Connie praying

RnestseekR-sometimes when I look at your Avator title, my eyes see RESTNSEEK. Honestly. To this day, that's how I see it, even though I know it is RnestseekR. I would not tell you anything else that I am not doing myself right now. Rest in Him. Don't worry about tomorrow. You are right to make plans for your tomorrow, but worry about tomorrow drains you, when God only gives us enough (manna) for today... Matthew 6:27-to the end.

Thank you so much for honesty and encouragement. Well taken. I struggle with resting. We have planned a vacation for Saturday - I have lost 2 grandmothers in the last 3 months (5 weeks apart), having personally provided hospice care for both of them. I am WORN OUT! I have said this to the Lord. Especially after Grandma #2 passed away - she was my spiritual mentor. Lord, I am tired, I would like to rest now. And then, then end of February, we got the notice that my husband would be losing his job tomorrow. So, I needed that reminder, to REST. Because in my fleshly mind, I do not see how I can rest when we need to be obviously looking for work. I claim that His ways ways are not my ways! This seems completely the opposite of what I should be doing right now, and yet what you have said to me gives me SO MUCH ENCOURAGEMENT right now! Partly just because I PHYSICALLY feel worn out, and I know I am emotionally spent. And you had no idea that I am planning on going to Florida on Saturday for a week and was just worrying about "How do I relax when all I can think about is finding work." THANK YOU for your timely words! Bless you!

Just keep seeking God and REST in Him (as someone mentioned). This isn't a good time right now but God can still provide for his people inspite of and make ways out of no ways (I encourage you to read my post under bible study and teachings: "how much do you love me") Sometimes things are just that: "a test". I know that God can provide for you and don't lose hope because he'll come through when you least expect it!!

Be blessed

It is amazing how you poured into me when I needed a word of encouragement. Father, I come bodly to the throne of grace and ask for mercy in the time of need. Your word says that you will supply all of our needs according to your riches in glory and your word says that we have a high priest that understands our weaknesses. Trusting in your word, we stand on your word that you have heard the cry of rnestseekr before she even prayed. You also said for us to call upon you and you will show us great and mighty things which we did not know. Thank you that you are Jehovah Jireh our provider. I ask you in the name of Jesus to give her sweet rest, as she lies her head upon your breast. Thank you that she is kept by the beloved. Help her to trust in your unfailing love. We lift up her husband as well, that your restore him as you reposition him in this transition. It is for your glory. Help them to trust totally in you, and lean not to their own understanding, and to seek you first. God I ask that you will open up doors and opportunities-enlarge their territory. The ideas that you have given them, may they produce a harvest because we believe your word that says, you give power to get wealth. Thank you that you will never leave them nor forsake them. It is in the precious name of Jesus, Amen.
rnestseekr, I want to tell you to tap into the gifts and abilities that God has given you. I keep hearing that he has given you the power to get wealth. Do not worry about tomorrow. I had to learn that scripture the hard way.
Please get some rest, as I am in your shoes. I know that when are bodies are attacked physically, our spiritual being suffers. We can't seem to feel him-But as you told me-He Loves you! He is there. The biggest trick of the enemy is to make us think that God has left us because we sin or got off track. David says "if I make my bed in hell, Lord you are there. Where can I go from your presence?" He is right there. Been there all the time, He says trust me...I want fail you. Never have-

and if I am not mistaken you have been in this position or similar one before.

Be blessed...Iamfree

Iamfree: You have returned the blessing back to me! Yes, we have been in this position more times than I'd like to tell you in the last 3 yrs! I KNOW God has me in His palm, I KNOW this must be the path he wants us on as we moved here following him and have been BLESSED IMMENSELY by our church home and in our spiritual walk. But, the career side has suffered and withered. My husband's ego (being the main provider) has also suffered.
On the flip side - I did rest. It was an amazing week and I was surprised at how much I let go and didn't even give one single thought to while we were gone. My brother went on a mission trip to Honduras during the same week and came home to tell me something very similar to what you have said here. Thank you for the confirmation. I would like to affirm you right now. You may feel low and depleted, but you ARE hearing from God. Blessings!!!! Rnest
