Just down to Cornwall mate, took the van and a couple of tents and lived on pasties for a few days. You look like your making good progress mate and you sound like your enjoying it too. Mine will be a little slow getting off the mark as I am very busy with work at the moment but once I can get a bit of time, it should start to make a bit of headway. I'm gonna get my office cleared out at the back and get the frame in there once its powder coated and I can work in comfort over the winter then. Planning on a spring deadline to be on the road. Keep up the good work, I will be keeping a close eye on your progress mate.

Hello mate, you got it at last then. Looks good mate and I see you've been busy spending money as well. I saw that rear light unit a couple of weeks ago, nice choice, well smart. Seat unit looks long enough mate, is it a bit of a squeeze or do you just want to get the rear of the frame out of sight ?, Might be worth looking at taking a bit out of the rear of the frame if that's the reason mate, just a thought. Looks good though and looking forward to seeing the progress. I've been away and so progress is at a stand still on mine.

Yes mate, it's a 1975 CB250 G5 Dream. No further progress as yet. need to get the seat unit fabricated and all mounts welded and then I can get the frame blasted and powder coated, been away though.

I did find another insurer for £800'ish but what a rip off, I can't understand why after a very minor bump they clearly don't want my custom. Wish I'd just paid for the old tw ts car repair out of my own pocket.

Groupama through A-plan. Didn't realize until today that I have since renewed my puplic liability and employers liability insurance policies with the robbing b d's. apparently my other policy is gonna shoot up in cost as well which is my wife's car, she's gonna be well pleased, she pay's for that herself.

Meant to post this a couple of weeks ago but I've been busy. I'm 46 years old with full 60% no claims on my 2x car insurance policies, a named driver on my van policy had a very minor bump in July, an old git tried to squeeze by whilst we were trying to get out of a tight space and we caught his rear wheel arch, the van suffered no damage at all. My insurance company wanted £4676.75 to renew the policy, it was £500.00 last year. I don't get it.

Hi Mate, This is what I think on the subject. I like many things, bikes, cars and guitars, amongst many other things. Some of my favourites are brand new and off the shelf and many are old and original and lots are old and modified. I don't think there is a right or wrong in anyone's choices but of course you will always attract other peoples opinions with the choices you make, that doesn't make them right or wrong. Noel Gallagher once said in an interview that there wasn't good or bad music only music you like or don't like. That is a good philosophy to have. He went on to say " who's to say the telletubbies are no good, my 3 year old loves them". I get that, music is for everybody not just a select few. I believe It's the same with everything in life, make your choice's and live by them. If you see a bike in a show room and you like it and can afford it, buy it, enjoy it and modify it if you want to and don't pay attention to other peoples opinions. One word of warning though, people will then label you arrogant so be prepared for that as well. There you go mate, philosophical and diplomatic in one paragraph, hope this helps. Gaz

Yes' it's a tiny little bike but should be a lot of fun for next summer, just need to kick start the project and keep the momentum going. Can't wait to get it on the road though.

Right, project going a little slow for my liking, I've been stumbling around doing lots of thinking and planing the project. I now have fairly good plans for how to proceed and have just returned from my welder buddy who has agreed to fabricate my new seat unit for me. I don't want to reveal my plans for the seat unit until I have something to show but I can say I am very excited by it. I just need to make scaled drawings a cardboard mock up and run the frame over to his workshop on Monday and he is going to fabricate the seat unit and frame mounts for me along with a new, repositioned battery box. For this weekend I'm going to start some serious polishing, anything alloy, fork legs, engine casings, handle bar controls, basically make a proper start and Sunday Brackley show. Gaz

I bet that's killing you, waiting. At least you'll have it all planned out by the time it arrives ? I will reveal the seat idea but I just need to make sure it's gonna work first. To be honest I think it will make a good little read as a project within the main project. Gaz

Hello mate. No the centre stand will be removed before sand blasting but it's handy at the moment for getting around the frame etc. I will leave the centre stand mounts on, just to give me the option in the future, you can't see them down there anyway. Im pretty excited about the seat unit but I don't want to reveal it until I have it all worked out, got the photo's though and I think you will like it. What about you, done anything to your new project yet or is it still in the design stage. If you're anything like me you've probably stood and looked at it for hours, thinking of ideas ? Have you got any pic's up yet, I'm just about to take a look at your thread. Gaz

Been busy today but progress was slow. Started off by giving the frame a bit of lypo suction, Removed all of the luggs and mounts that are not required any more, including the old back brake pedal mounting and the seat hinge and lock etc. Also modified the removable brace/ mudguard stay at the rear of the frame, making the frame a couple of inches shorter, ready for the new seat unit. Not gonna reveal the seat unit yet, as it is still work in progress but I think it's gonna be good. Here's a few pic's of todays efforts, minus the new seat unit. All surplus bits removed Gaz
