  1. Thanks guys for all the support and advice you've given to Tammy. I felt that I'd really let her down as I should have been on the more on the ball. All I can say is that I'm not at my best first thing in the morning. The bike itself seems pretty straight although I haven't ridden it more than a couple of hundred yards.

I'm pretty annoyed that it seemed to have 'slipped' mind of the woman who sold it that her chimp of a brother dropped a used motor in 6 months ago but she still made a big deal about the MoT's proving the bikes mileage, cow! The standard of the work is very poor and we've spent today cleaning out the carbs and repairing the throttle cable bracket (which was hanging off). The bike has recently had new throttle cables fitted... badly and as Tammy has only just passed her test I don't want sticking throttles etc. I'll show her how to balance them tomorrow and we'll do a decent service as, even though the woman selling it says it has been serviced I think she just means her incompetent brother has changed the oil as the back brake reservoir is below the minimum level. The oil level in the engine sight glass is only 2/3 of the way up so think we'll go through the bike with a fine tooth comb.

Just a bit gutted that her first experience of owning a big bike has been a bit soured by the dishonesty. Caveat emptor I suppose, especially with fleabay.

I feel a bit stupid as well to be honest, but there again I'm not always thinking straight when I'm in the company of you two anyway, lol.
If you need any help unloading the engine give me a shout, that's assuming you'll get monkey boy brother to load it in the trailer for you at her end?

  2. AAArrrggghhh!
Tammy, I can't believe it, I feel so stupid that I didn't do a text check for you when we got there to pick it up. I'm not so sure now that she didn't know it's history. Would you let me talk to her for you? I can be quite persuasive sometimes. I feel really annoyed too now.

  3. I love Cadwell Park, it was the first race track I ever went to, 'twas for Barry Sheene's first race after his Daytona crash in 1975. I've had a few track days there too with the Trident and Rocket 3 owners club, a focused events day both around the full circuit and a couple of Supermoto events with NORA around the "woodland section" (mountain and the first part of the straight back to the bottom of the mountain again). Being narrow in comparison to other tracks certainly makes it a challenge to overtake but compared to some hillclimbs I've done it's like a motorway!

I saw them at the motorcycle expo a few years while the idea was being developed and wondered if they were on sale yet as I've never seen one, does anybody know anyone with one yet?

  6. Regardless or not if the scooter rider made a mistake, he wasn't going to do the driver any harm, the way the driver re-acted to the rider was life threatning. What was the outcome as I didn't watch to the end? I'd have used the video evidence for sure, the blokes a maniac and the rider was obviously being intimidated by him.

  7. Thanks again for the welcome all thumbs

Hiya Cab, was lovely to see you on Thursday, it's always nice to have you over and can't wait for the Stranglers gig. Tammy said you'd been out for a ride today and you didn't call in for a cuppa Sad is it because we're about to drop the motor out of the Exup fofl

Oh and welcome to the forum it's great to see you here partythumbs

Guys, Cab is our best mate and if you need the best chippy money can buy he's your man. no1

Yep...I second all that...Nice to see you in here Cab thumbs

Looking forward to the gig too.....they have been the best band we've seen and play up to the crowd....hope it's as good this time Very Happy

You are both too kind, the ride was a bit spontaneous as I was only going to warm the bike up while I washed two months of building site crap of the van. It seemed too good an opportunity to miss as there wasn't a cloud in the sky, so a quick check over to see all was OK, tyres, water etc. and I went off for a quick (slow) wobble round. Will definately call for a tea this week though thumbs

  8. I was about to say that's my first ride on the bike this spring, but as it's only still Feb. I'm almost ashamed to say that's was my first ride on the bike this winter. Nice though, on one of my favourite circuits, sorry I mean roads, from Meriden to Kingsbury via Nuneaton and back. I saw a few others out with the same idea.

  9. Thanks for the welcome all. I must mention that it was Fallen Angel and Pussycatz that steered me in this direction. thumbs thanks.
