BREAKING NEWS: MASSIVE TSUNAMI HITS JAPAN 8.9 Earthquake

A massive earthquake has hit the north-east of Japan, triggering a tsunami that has caused extensive damage.
Japanese television showed cars, ships and even buildings being swept away by a vast wall of water after the 8.9 magnitude earthquake.

The quake has sparked fires in several areas including Tokyo, and numerous casualties are feared.
It struck about 250 miles (400km) from the capital at a depth of 20 miles. There have been powerful aftershocks.

The tremor at 1446 local time (0546 GMT). Seismologists say it is one of the largest earthquakes to hit Japan for many years.
The tsunami warning was extended to the Philippines, Indonesia, Taiwan, the Pacific coast of Russia and Hawaii.

Tsunami waves hit Japan's Miyagi and Fukushima prefectures, officials said.

So many cars in the water I see from the clips in the news.

I thought they had tsunami warning when the earthquake happened. But people were still driving about when the tsunami hit.

March 12, there was an explosion at the Fukushima I Nuclear Power Plant. At 17:00 JST (0800 GMT), Fox News Channel reported the explosion and a plume of "white smoke" rising above the plant. At 17:03 JST (08:03 GMT) BBC News reported that Japan's NHK TV reported the explosion as "near" the plant, and that four workers were injured. At 18:43 JST (9:43 GMT) officials have confirmed that an explosion has occurred at the nuclear plant.

i still remember japan was one of the 1st foreign country to send in a team of disaster specialist to msia during the highland tower incident.

we shld not have joke at this disaster esp at this magnitude.
