Stock ?

GSX750ESD.
Great comfort, awful 16" front wheel.

Mod'ed ?

My Current Naked Hayabusa.
They are good anyway,
but the bar's/raisers etc were done to fit me.
1240 miles in a weekend with a pillion. No drama.

ignorant me B6 = Kawasaki 550 zephyr?
B12 Suzuzi Bandit 1200?

sounds like generally heavier/bigger bikes are considered more comfortable - presumably they sit on the road better, fatter back tyres. not sure whether two shocks old style is better than mono comfortwise.

Apologies for all this, been on my mind looking at future machine second hand and comfort would be a big factor, the xj900 is supposed to be a comfy bike but too heavy for me.

thanks for your comments/choices

yes the xjr is a nice looking bike and surprisingly not too heavy either, guess we are talking sub 40 mpg there, massively powerful - good for pulling trees out Laughing I should think. fat rear tyre/twin shockers.

When I was younger comfort was never an issue,
now it seems like I can't go 5 miles down the road without back, bum or bo**ock issues Sad
Honda Superblackbird is probably the comfiest bike i've rode.

I'd forgotten.

ZZR1100 was quite good.
Bar/seat/footpegs position and
suspension isnt full-on sporty.

Did France a few times on it.

I find comfort is a "combination" thing.

The relationship/positioning of the 3 contact points.
Feet, arse, hands,

and the bikes suspension,

and a decent seat,

and leg room, (crappy B-King! Laughing )

and wide/skinny tanks,

and probabley a few things i've forgotten.

that last post by tony made me think, slight lean forward helps with a little bit of weight on the arms, wish the foot controls would go back a tad on mine, doubt that there are any kits for rear sets on a divvy though.

Its all about finding a balance,
and what fits one guy may not fit another.

I had a pair of Hayabusa's. Loved them.
...but after 300 miles my shoulders ached,
numb hands, pin's and kneedles. Regular.

A while later I had a Naked Hayabusa with Renthals, and a B-King.
Although neither have a tupperware fairing,
Im now doing regular 500 to 600 mile days.
I get normal aches and pain's, but I find
the upright position suits me,
and im happy to sit there all day.

Pain..... Sad

No pain..... thumbs

I know other guys who swear that you cant do
distance or speed without a fairing.

Other say that Cruisers rule for comfort.

One's comfortable bike may not be anothers.
Each to there own.

I have changed the bars on my Busa to the Helibars,

Wow what a diffeence worth evey penny,
They are billiant I could no have managed with the standard bars.

I would think you know the Yanks do a Buell footpeg mod for the Busa to lower the rider pegs.

Do you know anyone thats done this mod and was it any good ?

Cheers Jim.

Yes. Very popular with Busa and B-King owners.
The mod suits B-Kings too as some folk struggle with leg room under the tank.

Never tried it myself.

Always wondered if you'd lose ground clearance ?
Busa's have their limits anyway.

Would you lose the sporty feel ?

Would your boots touch the exhaust / sidestand ?

A lot of folk do seem very happy with the Buell pegs,
I suppose it would depend on the individual.

For those not familiar with it,
the "Buell peg" mod is using a set of
slightly modified buell footpegs as they
dont come straight out, they step down,
and sit lower.

I've seen it done on Busa's and B-Kings but
not sure what other models it would work on.

mod also works on the RF and as the pegs are the same on the bandit will work on that also , just need to grind the do a bit on the side thumbs

Most comfortable for me was my Kawasaki GTR1400 with gel seat, went all over europe on it and not a single problem, most uncomfortable was really any of the Harleys I have owned with the standard seats and foot pegs/boards.
