    done this on the cheap.bit of hammerite on the frame,head and spokes.autosol,wire wool and alot of elbow grease for the rest.

    hi all.i cant seem to find a grab rail for my old yamaha sr250 anywhere.ive been told by my son that i need one because its not cool to be holding on to me.i was wondering do i have to get one that is off a sr250 or will one of another bike fit?[img][/img]

    yea come on.ive put a piston in the wrong way round and loads off other stupid things.we all learn by are mistakes

    whats a drift and do you mean hit it on in to brake the seal? yep thats the way big steel bar and a very big hammer happy days.got it out.went back to unit [where the bike is] to see what way i was going to drill it.went at it for the last time with a heavy hammer and deep socket.beat the shit out off it and it poped out.cleaned it up put new o ring on and put oil in.i have the bike back together and will take her for a spin in the morn.f**k them things can be tight alright.thanks for all the help folks.learning a bit every day.

    im trying to put oil in the forks on my old yamaha sr250.the spring is held in with a retainer[metal bung like thing]which is held in place with a spring clip[circlip like]that fits into a grove.the idea is to push down on the retainer pry out the clip and it should pop out.my retainer is rusted in solid.i have the clip out but the retainer wont budge.this is what ive tried so far.cleaned all the rust off,soaked over night in wd40,then over night in wd40 with fork compressed,then over night in diesel compressed,heated it up with heat gun,pounded up and down on the stanchion like a mad man.beat around it with a dead blow hammer.the fucker wont budge.any ideas?

    i got scared off taking it out and checked the exhaust gasket.the guy before had just put a gasket over the old one.i know now why,it was a c nt to get out.but after fitting a new one its fine no backfire.but i will have to get the jet out at some stage so thanks for the help everyone

    the hole in the jet looks a bit big for me,thats what makes me think it might be that.but i'll take her down the road a couple of mile and see what happens. hope there's no cops about it has'nt been taxed for 12 years.

    i got an old yamaha sr250 going but it was backfiring through the exhaust when i let the throttle off.i took off the carb to have a look and noticed the pilot jet head is wrecked or broke off inside the tube[if you know what i mean]. i cant get it out.anyone know a trick of how i could get it out without breaking the tube.

    hi folks.im doing up an old yamaha sr250.the head and barrel is black and needs repainted.it seems to have been done before with something like hammerite smooth.im wondering will hammerite take the heat?
