I understand your fear of needles, I HATE the dentist. I am supposed to go every six months but I haven't been in a year or two, I'm so bad. But the last time I needed fillings, my dentist was like Suzanne's. She actually squirted some of the anaesthetic from the needle where she was going to put it. It didn't feel quite so bad that way. I've also had a general anaesthetic when I had a laparoscopy and that scared the pants off me. The thought of being totally put under was really frightening, especially because you know that a very small number of people don't wake up. My heart was racing and the doctor noticed it when he took my pulse. When I woke up I felt tired and just sitting up made me want to vomit, it wasn't very nice, so I would definitely avoid this unless absolutely necessary.
