  1. For me, i just tell myself, they can't buy all of them. Yes that is true. But then i noticed since people are posting up places to get cars since LYF and HWC ...... its even worse! In this case, sharing is not caring anymore. I just posted one place. Only one early this year, and it will be the last. Its makes hoarders job so so much easier. Sorry i do not buy this sharing and caring business. It might work in some circumstances, but over here it doens't. Its fuel for fire. I would stop here and now because i'm in the verge of stopping to collect again. Mad Chait!!

  2. I agree with Rayz. Last time when i first started, i did not know about TH cars. I only collected 4 years ago. I just jumped in because of the Ford Thunderbird. Then i found LYF. Which spurned me to get more. Then it gets harder to find cars and you get frustrated. Then you see people putting up pictures of 5 or more similar cars that you want. Its such a put off. I nearly quitted because of that. Then i went back to when i first started and looked back why i wanted to collect.

Then i found out there are more people going into this hobby for money. Its easy, buy now RM5.90 hold few months sell back RM7-10. I believe if Mattel issued all the cars as mystery cars (hunts, basic, team, blah blah), the collectors registration here would fall back to only 20 people. Then things like this will never even crop up. I think making HW collecting like those "Tikam" cards i used to buy would be more fun.

    (5) Le Mans (1971, YOU ARE NOT a male petrolhead/gearhead if u don't watch/like this one,POSERS!)

I have this in VCD, hard to find the DVD. I'm not a petrol head and not a gear head. But i want to know how far did Steeve Mcqueen go. How many times have you seen the movie? It SUCKS!!! It has no acting whatsoever and its more like a documentary of sorts. Probably Steve's worst part of his career.

But! no one can be called an automotive freak if they did not read his biography at least. Then you will know how he likes his cars. Till then don't call people posers just because you think you know Steve McQueen. There are many more motoring legends and events to learn up. If you want somewhere to start, subscribe to Top Gear. They recollect at least one racer every month with stories that would make you do a double think on how much you know about cars.

  4. From what i heard, its a track car. And its not for sale for regular joes to be used on the road. How do you guys define ugly anyway? This car may not appeal to people who likes classic ferrari looks. But then its a track car. Its function is only that.

If i want to say ugly, may of the Japanese cars that run in Super GT are ugly. They do not carry the look of their original cars because of escessive bodykits and wings. A toyota VIOS is ugly. hahaha.

  5. Its not hard to see why they never bring in those other cars that we drool over the internet. Its culture. How many collectors know who Dale Earnhardt is? How many know the stock car races teams are there in USA? How many know the Hot Rod tuners in USA? Its culture, its their motoring history. Collectors here only look at how nice the cars by design and buy them by the bucketloads. If i were a Mattel regional sales manager for SEA market, i would NOT release those cars in Malaysia or any country in SEA. Simply because no one knows who these people where the cars are licensed from.

It makes more sense to make supercars where everyone would know and recognize. I can back up my claims easily. Just look at the amount of 08 Rod based cars on the racks. 40's Ford for example. Many right? Its appeal is only to a select few here. But its selling by the bucket loads in USA. You can still see Shelby Cobra on the racks here. But i bet in USA might have been sold out long time ago. Its a very historic car. The blue one especially as there is an actual book reference, details and history n that car.

So in other case, you can cry and pelt Mattel sales/ factories in Malaysia to sell such cars here. But realize this. Once they sell this, they will know It will be RM24.90 for something like Jada's range. And those 1:32 Ferarris are a good example how bigger is more expensive. And i'm sure 80% of the collectors here would pay Rm5.90 for a 1:64 car but not RM45 for a 1:32 car. So the select few 5% of them wouldn't mind to pay RM450 for 10 1:32 cars. But there are so little of them. The rest 15% are resellers and hoarders. But don't rely on these figures. Its my observation from trades and sales section in both LYF & HWCM and rack values at stores.

  6. Europe market cars will be made by Matchbox. American market cars will be made by HotWheels. Simple as that. That is why you will never see a Ford Transit Van in US and you will never see a Ford F150 truck in UK. Market segment baby.

So those 4 door super saloons like Panamera and such would probably be made by Matchbox and/or Hotwheels.

All other tuned exotics would be made by Maisto, really. How many tuned supercars you see made by hotwheels? There are a lot of tuned muscle cars for Us market.
