Tiddly Winks 0 Posted June 29, 2010 Okay, first of all, no I haven't been drinking and this really and truly happened to me last night. I would swear on everything that is holy that it did, and it totally freaked me out. I was sort of feeling weird about sharing, but then thought, what the hey, it might make for a decent story.Anyway, last night, I guess it was about three in the morning (I don't really know), I abruptly woke up. It wasn't a normal moan groan ugh, I don't want to go to the bathroom sort of thing, it was a very abrupt waking up and looking to the end of our bed sort of waking up as though something was happening. What I saw was a man standing at the right foot of the bed. It was not Sven. He was tall like my husband, wearing a striped shirt (like a prison shirt, with vertical stripes that go up and down). but this was not my husband standing there. I wanted to say something to Sven, but for some reason, my mind was not working, so all I could do was just sit and stare. Who was he? This question has been wracking my brain all day. Anyway, as my mind finally started to work I watched as this man started to walk to the left in the direction of the door leading out of the bedroom and into the hall, I watched him move and much to my surprise (shock) as he walked, he faded from view.As soon as he was gone, I sat staring at where he had been and my heart was practically in my throat. People ask about ghosts and the supernatural, and they play this stuff on TV, but this was real and I was totally freaking out. I have had a few strange things happen to me, but never in my life has something like this happened. I have had spiritual counselors say that I am receptive to it, but, as sure as I know my own name, something supernatural happened last night, and I'm still reeling about it. Then if that wasn't enough, a mild earthquake (3.8 on the Richter Scale) hit a town about 20 or so kilometers from here last night, but I don't know the specific time it happened. I don't even know the specific time I saw someone in our room last night, but it is very strange (freaky) if both events happened at the same time.
kasijab 0 Posted June 29, 2010 and you just laid down and went back to sleep ???? Are you absolutely positive you didnt' dream it? If it was me I don't think I could sleep in there again ..I'd be too freaked out
Tiddly Winks 0 Posted June 29, 2010 No I was awake. If I had dreamt it, then I wouldn't have remembered it. I was completely awake. I laid back down, but couldn't go back to sleep. I ended up in the bathroom some time later. I had to go, but I was too afraid to move. I was totally freaked.

myladyyawo 0 Posted June 29, 2010 Oh my goodness Yvette, What an experience! How long have you lived where you are? I would actually try to wake up the same time the next night to see if he appears again. It could be a residual sort of thing and your place could just appear to him not as your place does now, but maybe a place that he's been in the past. I sear I've seen something a few times out of the corner of my eye, but nothing ever like you've experienced. Did you tell Sven in the morning? This reminds me, I having been bored one day looked up what some mediums and such thought about 2012 and most of what I read said the same thing in blogs and posts on their sites. They basically say that nothing "world ending" will happen but some people will be able to become more aware of the "other side" as more and more people are starting to experience things. Try to relax and imagine that he was a person just like you and I, and realize that he's probably not there to scare you. When hearing about Ghosts or getting that feeling that somethings around that always helps me feel better.
Guest Guest Posted June 29, 2010 Yvette I'd have to say that I believe in paranormal. So it might of have been some kind of a ghost. Don't get me wrong, but I seriously do.

Nothing like this has ever happened before, I'd have remembered if it did. The weirdest thing for me was remembering the shirt. That did a serious number on me. I knew that it wasn't my father, or anyone I knew. I felt a strange feeling about it, not something bad, but just strange. It could be a residual sort of thing and your place could just appear to him not as your place does now, but maybe a place that he's been in the past. Yes, I did tell Sven about it, and he affirmed that he did not get up during the night. He asked me to outline what I saw, and so I went to the bed and stood directly where this man had been standing, and then walked the same path to the point where he disappeared. Maybe I will do some research about this area and see what I can find out about the history of this place. Oh I can believe it. I have had too many weird experiences and one of my old acquaintances is someone who studies Numerology (which is Astrology but with numbers) and she found out my birthday and freaked. I didn't think much of it, but people have been saying that I have heightened senses. Whether that is true, I can't say, but this is very strange indeed.Try to relax and imagine that he was a person just like you and I, and realize that he's probably not there to scare you. When hearing about Ghosts or getting that feeling that somethings around that always helps me feel better. It was strange, but I didn't have the impression that I was in danger. I will try to remember that if something else happens. I may have trouble sleeping tonight though. So, if you see me around here tonight at weird hours, you'll know why. Lucky Strike 0 Posted June 29, 2010 i had a few paranormal "adventures" but nothing like this... one of the most socking ones was this:I'm sleeping and I feel waking up from the vibration of a text message (in my previous mobile you could "hear" the vibration a lot more so it would wake me up everytime). I wake up and i pick up my phone from the floor. I see the name of the sender and the message. I'm too sleepy to reply so i just go back to sleep. Now here is the tricky part! Seconds later I literary wake up from this dream from a vibration of my phone! Socked I take a look... the sender and the EXACT message was there!!! No... He didn't sent it two times and no the actual message was the 2nd one as after that i got out of bed!
myladyyawo 0 Posted June 29, 2010 Yvette, let me know what you find out about the place, I'm quite curious. If you find something that may explain who he could be it might make it a little less nerve wrecking lol. Hopefully you'll be able to get some sleep tonight lol. At least Sven is right there beside you! *hugs*

Agne 0 Posted June 29, 2010 OMG!!! Are you sure he's not a robber or something? Yvette! I was soo scared reading this, you could even write a story about this... I don't believe in ghosts so... Tiddly Winks 0 Posted June 29, 2010 To answer your questions. No this was no robber, if it was, I'd have used my self defense and got the police here straightaway. That is, I could see him, but probably not physically touch him. I think he knew that he had startled me, because soon after seeing me, he started his walk. After he was gone, I still felt his presence even after he had vanished. I think Myladyyawo said it the best when she said 'residue'. How did I react? I was pretty stunned. That is, I sat for the longest time staring at where he had been standing before he started walking. When I woke up this morning, the feelings I had were rather calm, but also anxious. I had a mixture of a lot of feelings, but somehow knowing that I had experienced something last night was evident.
Spooky 0 Posted June 29, 2010 Well hun im the admin of a forum that specialises on Spooky stories and i mention that to prove that I have heard a lot of these stories so my opinion is that a) you may have dreamed it (it happens) b) You actually saw it (that happens too) I admire your strength and courage not to scream and also how did you manage to sleep after that?! Now to the spooky side of it do you have any idea why a man would haunt your house maybe some ancient story about it (im going all supernatural i know, but since you are 100% of what you experienced we have to see what we can do) the earthquake happening at the same time is strange too (not supernatural:maybe you had a panic attack at the time and saw what you saw) maybe it started from a jail 20 kilometers away (ok now im going crazy). Were you alone in the room?

A second hand store? I have several things from Goodwill, and some teddy bears, but not really old stuff. I have been writing a fan fiction that takes place in the 50's and I have a fascination with old movies, but I don't know if that is a calling card for ghosts. I think the last time I really went into an antique store was about 10 years ago when we were vacationing in Denmark.
myladyyawo 0 Posted June 29, 2010 The reason I ask that silly question hun, is because sometimes spirits are known for loving something so much they attach themselves to a beloved item after they are gone. Renovations to an old building can stir things up I've heard as well.

This was why I asked him if he had gotten up during the night. He had said no. Panic attack? No, this was no panic attack, I was not in a panic. I have had panic attacks before, and this was not a panic attack. I think that there are some things that are unexplainable. Logic tends to dictate to me that I should rationalize it, but this time I can't just excuse it. I was completely awake, I saw a man, and can retrace his steps until he disappeared. Tiddly Winks 0 Posted June 29, 2010 Nope, that's what I am going to find out. I will ask one of the neighbors, and then see if there is any information about this building. Not that we've ever seen any but once my boss was in her office and the warehouse man was in the warehouse and my boss heard someone in the staff room which is next to her office. Then the warehouse man went in her office about 5 minutes later and she asked why he hadn't made her a drink as well and he said he'd been in teh warehouse which is at the back of the shop and you can't hear from the office but she is 100% she heard someone banging around and turning the water on in the staff room.I do believe in spirits as well and agree that I don't think most spirits are there to hurt or worry people, I don't think they realise that it can spook people out. Would be interesting to know if you find out anything interesting about where you live that could explain something.

myladyyawo 0 Posted June 29, 2010 Agne, there is nothing to be frightened of sweetie, Like Yvette said she didn't feel in danger. If It was a real man I would be extremely frightened for her, not relieved. Ghosts (or spirits as I prefer to call them) are not something to be afriad of like in movies and things. There is no reason for her to believe it had negative energy or wasn't human at some point. Anxiety about the topic will only lead to feeling fear, and being stressed out which is actually more harmful to you then any spirit of a human could be.
Tiddly Winks 0 Posted June 29, 2010 No, I was freaked out, but not scared. It was a weirdish feeling, but not something I would dub as scary. I think what really bothered me was that I think I may have scared him more than he did me. He may not have known what to make of me. But, then again, I think that can be said about me and a lot of situations. It's really not scary, strange and supernaturalish but not scary.

Kokonee 0 Posted June 29, 2010 Maybe if you try to think what era his clothes seem to be from? Then, when you talk with the neighbors you can narrow down events in your building! I don't know why; but it reminds me of Judith in Joan of Arcadia when, as a ghost, she walks through the middle of the table! My hubby and I are pretty certain we have kitty ghosts. We have both "seen" them from the corner of our eyes and almost tripped on them!

tweets 0 Posted June 30, 2010 oh my god!! that's soooo scary!!unfortunately. i believe in paranormal stuff, and spirits and aliens... yep, it's not a good thing my first explanation for this is that this spirit must be attached to something you own, or the place, or something like that.or maybe even you. ar you sure you didn't reckognise someone you know/knew?second explanation can be that the man died during that quake. you should search if there were any deaths then. it might be that.you were probably still in some phase of a dream, since you saw the spirit. i've read so much things about paranormal stuff that happens in dreams or right after you wake up.. good thig is, it wasn't aggresive. it doesn't want anyting from you, he was just passing by, or looking for something in your house.or maybe for someone? do you know the previous owner of the place where you live? maybe they're connected! there a lot of options.... if you really want to know who it was, you can research everything connected to that place, that time, that day and everything you think you should! and OH MY GOD, i so gotta go to the toilet now and it's 2 am yvette, so scared the hell out of me!! :sarcastic:
Guest Guest Posted June 30, 2010 I totaly believe in the paranormal.I also belive that some people on this earth have special gifts - you must be one of thoes people! I think he was harmless as he simply left. I'd do some research if I where you... about that time, place, events...If he comes back, ask him how you can help him - that's the best thing to do.Since people are sharing, let me tell you my 3 stories... sorry if they are long... My grandfather on my mother's side had 2 gifts - he could take away your pain (especialy toothakes & headaches & laibour pains - but this only woked on family members) all you had to do was sit in front of him, he would touch you in the area where it hurt and you would have to think really hard about how much you loved him. Within minutes your pain would be gone!!! He could also stop bloor if you had a wound - this was totally creepy, and it worked on everyone - so people in our small comunity would come to him all the time when they where hurt and the ambulance (30 mins away) could not get there on time. He would just place his hand over the wound and it would stop bleeding!!! People swear that he saved many lives. It was totally creepy!!! Unfortunately, my grandfather now has altzimers, and his gifts no longer work... :sad:Before my great-grandmother passed away she told my grandmother that she would come and visit my mother (her youngest grand-daughter) in the night and tickle her feet. My grandparents have told us all many times that for months after my my grandmother passed away they could hear my monther laughing and giggling at exactly 2:14am! The time when my greatgrandmother crossed over to the other side. When I was 12 years old my mom, borther & I moved into my grandparents house (the family home for generations) because the house was too big for my grandparents to take care of but they wanted it to stay in the family. They moved to a new smaller house dorn the street. Many people in our family passed away in that house for generations as that is how it was in the olden days. I recal many nights when we would wake up and the house would be freezing on the sencond floor because "someone" had turned off the electric heat and turned ON the wood stove in the basement - and it was NOT my mother! Tiddly Winks 0 Posted June 30, 2010 Well, this morning, I woke up and the first thing my husband asked me was, 'Did you have a visitor last night?' I said 'no, I didn't see anyone, but I sure felt a presence'. I had trouble falling asleep, but once I did, I slept through the night. I wasn't nervous or afraid, but I did sense a presence in there even though I didn't see anything or anyone. Maybe my sensitivities are heightened right now.I definitely believe in the paranormal, UFOs, and the like. I saw a UFO when I was 18 and living in Houston. My mother saw the same thing and then again in 1996, just after we had moved to Jena. Two different sightings within about seven years time. I then spoke with someone who lived in the USA, who told me they had seen the same thing, and this affirmed to me that I wasn't just seeing things. I have had other experiences which I believe were real, although they stemmed from some very peculiar and vivid dreams.

Tiddly Winks 0 Posted June 30, 2010 I think he was letting me get some sleep. I am considering going through hypnosis to see if I can get more information about the time frame of clothes, and why the stripes were so vivid. It's a crazy idea, but I am a bit nuts, and I really want to remember what I saw, and hypnosis may be the only way.

Nothing else.Prayers for you Yvette, and for nothing like this happens again
Tiddly Winks 0 Posted June 30, 2010 I want it to happen again. I want to find out what happened to this guy, and why he felt compelled to come visit me. I have the curiousity of 1000 cats and I want to know. I will look into hypnosis. I have never done it before, and from what I hear, some people are non-hypnosable (is that a word). But, I want to find out why I saw him, why he showed up after I've been here for five years, I want to know the history of this place, and so on. I am so curious about this.Lucky for me, I have a husband who is very supportive and he doesn't think I'm off my rocker. That's a big plus.
