Next bike. GSX1400.

Recommended Posts

Went to seen a GSX1400, done a deal.
Been after one for a while, ridden several,
bid on one or two damaged ones at the auctions.

2008 Model. Black. About 40,000k's / 25,000 miles.
Power commander, flat bars, Pazzo levers,
Rack, Box, intercom's, Full Yoshi System,
mini indicators, fork brace, good tyres, few other bits.
(no tax or M.O.T but price was right)

Been down on its right hand side.
Clocks smashed and dont work, Dent in tank,
Bikes straight and still rides well.

Just got to work out how to move in down the coast.
Chasing a few mates for transport or will do a deal with the Guy
to deliver it. Should be later this week.

Pic's posted up by the last owner when he was using it...

Dont sound so suprised.... Laughing

It might be turning up tomorrow (Thurs) night.
Bit of a bugger because im off on a 3 day
ride into NSW with the streetfighter guys
very early on Friday morning, so cant start
polishing / fixing / work on it untill next week.

Our "April Fools" run's grew quite big,
we ended up hireing a runway / campsite,
booked bands, stalls etc. This year we have
gone back to basic's. Just Forum members on
a high mileage / high speed pub run. Cant wait !!

must be exciting, hope you get it sorted for a ride soon, not too heavy for such a huge bike although still too heavy for the likes of me, just the machine for the open spaces. looks like a good summer (or is it winter there) for you.

It has an issue with the battery loseing charge.
Dont think it battery or charging system related.
Even with a flat battery you can jump start it, use it, and it charges up OK.
Leave it a few days and its totaly flat.

Two of the ASF guys with 14's say it could be due to the smashed clocks and the
internal circuit board being damaged and open to the weather.

I've pulled both the blue multi-plugs to disconect the clocks and charged
the battery up. Will try it in a few days, see if it changes anything.
Theres a bit of electrickery in the clocks but it still seems to start and
run OK without them.

Flicking through a few old mags I found a 14 with "Koso" clocks.
Google took me here....

and

Found a couple of new/unused Staintune baffles in my collection.
Put one in the Yoshi. Bit too small and not real good looking but
made a difference so it'll do as a temporary fix

Wasnt convinced about the red flat/drag bars.
Red was fading, they were VERY close to the tank,
and im more used to higher, wider bars than leaning forward.

Good job I keep a set of Black 789-Streetfighter Renthal
hidden away for just such an emergency.

Fixed.

Nice bike them thumbsthumbsthumbs But to me they should only be in blue/white Laughing

Yeah, I do think the Blue/White one's look good.
If I was hunting for a mint one i'd be after one.

I got this one for less than he spent on the extra's!
I'd have bought it if it had been pink with green spots!.... Laughing

take your meter and set to amps, 10-20 and attach to the neg side of battery and neg cable, and check for a parisitic draw, ie, a higher amp draw than normal, if it has start taking things out of line like fuse for lights, then check the amp draw, like you said with your clocks, dissconect the block connector and check the amp draw to see if its dropped and so on till you find the cause of the draw,
good luck.

Thanks. Good advise, but I did it the
slow / long / lazy / stupid person way.

Removed the smashed clocks.
Almost a week later.....
Bike spin's over like crazy and fires up easy.
Thats the electrical fault found.

All done except the mirrors and clocks.
Looks like i'll get "Koso" clocks when I can afford some.

Managed to get a quick "test ride".

1 tooth down on the front, Full Yoshi system,
P.A.I.R removed and a Power Commander.

Pull's OK. Quite nice for a Porky retro.

Decided there's no rush.
Going to register it when I get home
at the start of June. Only 6 weeks away.

GSX14 clocks seem few and far between out here,
and a bit fragile, mate has a few "dead" sets.
I do like the factory clocks,
but Koso will work out cheaper and easier to get.

Last owner wasnt much heavier than me,
so I guess he liked his "corners" ?
Hero bolts gone, and he's into the pegs.
He's also ground down the side stand and
right hand engine mount.

Will see if I can do the same, GAME ON! Laughing
