FrostedName 0 Posted July 3, 2013 I just wanted to know if there is any difference really in terms of the MPG and performance.Anyone know?
Oldfart 0 Posted July 3, 2013 I always find my bike runs better on the Premium and does give me slightly more mpg but its a personal choice as to if its value for money. Tend to fill with Premium every fourth tank
bladerunner 0 Posted July 3, 2013 personally I think its a waste of money. I've never noticed any difference in mpg or performance and one thing to consider is that premium petrol doesn't sell as much as the normal stuff so the fuel in the petrol station tanks has probably been there a lot longer, doesn't take long for modern petrol to go off. ptolemyx 0 Posted July 3, 2013 For everyday riding I haven't been able to tell any difference at all. However, for drag racing I use the premium stuff, just in case it does give even the slightest bit of a performance gain. IMHO mpg is 99% down to your right wrist and being as smooth as possible, pulling away like an old lady, cruising at a low and constant speed and planning well ahead to slowly come to a stop when you have to....evidence I rarely get anywhere near 40mpg on the Queen's highway;) Old and Disgraceful
madsod 0 Posted July 3, 2013 i find i get more miles per gallon , can be up to 10 on each gallon ,

goferit 0 Posted July 3, 2013 I've used it just for curiosity sake, but didn't notice any extra mpg's, so just stick with premium.Just a thought, If it doesn't live up to the company's claims, wouldn't that breach the 'sales description act?.
Chadatious 0 Posted July 3, 2013 no difference i found, same with diesel in the car. best fuel i found is shell thou, bike pops less and seems to run nicer wont touch supermarket stuff!
Stue11 0 Posted July 3, 2013 Ive always put the best fuel i can find at any station2thumbs
madcarper 0 Posted July 3, 2013 I thought the only difference is the dear stuff has better cleaning agents in it, not worth the extra imo.
BanditMike 0 Posted July 4, 2013 I put a tank of the premium in on occasion. Thought it was supposed to help with cleaning the injectors etc?
dick65 0 Posted July 4, 2013 just normal and a drop of redex every other fill
trebor4460 0 Posted July 4, 2013 more cleaning additives in the dear stuff the higher octane wont give any advantage unless you are pushing a high compression ratio ... is the added cleaning additives worth nearly 8-10p a litre more.. you decide,
lee1 1 Posted July 4, 2013 premium is suppose to burn better giving better mpg/performancebut to be honest Ive never noticed any difference in the way the bike runs so stick with the cheapestbut make sure its the correct octane for the bike as the manual statesjust my bit on diesel while were on about fuelif your running a fairly newish car stay awayfrom super market diesel it contains more biodiesel and a lot of new motors don't like it

How are we to know what's in it??

A couple of years ago fifth gear did what they called comprehensive lab tests on different fuels and found that in day to day driving, it did not matter. Driving techniques mattered alot more than what fuel you used.

How are we to know what's in it?? I usually put a bit of 2 stroke in every other tank of diesel, I get a cheap bottle from B&Q and put about 1/4 bottle in.
