Nope, but I might in the future. I don't have it at home, so I'll have to go to the library for it for one book at a time.

I agree .... There is a lot of content that never makes it to the screen, but I am not a fan of the way that the movie people have changed some of the basic story ... which they did not need to do ....

You will love LOTR.... They are a bit difficult to stick with sometimes because of his style of writing .... But I highly recommend them ......

I love HP. I have read all the books so many times and own all the films made so far. I even went to buy Beedle the Bard the day it came out... was seriously disappointed by it though.

I've read HP and i have saw all the movies! I like it! Not the best thing in the world but i like it
as for the LOTR that's more like it! i loooove it! I've only seen the movies (even the extended ones!) but i hadn't the time to read the books

I love Harry Potter. It's a great series of books, and the writing is top drawer. JK Rowling is such a great writer. I have Beadie the Bard somewhere here, but I haven't had a chance to read it.

My favorite characters are Dumbledore, Snape and Sirius Black...so you can imagine that I cried during books five-seven.

I love Harry Potter it's my favourite series. They are really good books. I have all of them but Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. Though that QTTA and TOBTB don't really interest me as much. My favourite of the books is Deathly Hallowed as it has the most action (:

the first book is really NOT good... for me the 3rd is the better.. then i like the 6th and the 5th quite a bit!!! then it's the 7th, 4th and 2nd

I love Harry Potter, I'm not sure why. I dislike so much about them and in principle dislike them but there is no hiding that I am a Harry Potter fan. Its the only other series I have other then Discworld.

I love The Deathly Hallows best, I think it was the best written book and had me in tears right from the start. But I really like knowing everything, so I'll always live hoping she'll do like a prequal about Dumbledore or Voldemort which I think would be interesting. I doubt it'll happen but I'd like it. Favourite character is Sirius (but only in book form) and Hagrid.

I've beeen nagged by my son for ages to read the Harry Potter books so finally gave in. I started reading the first one years ago, but didnt enjoy it so stopped.

So far now I've read the first 3 and I'm just starting on the goblet of fire.
They are good, getting better, still wasnt impressed with the first book

But to me they are still kids books, and it feels like I'm reading kids books

They are very well written though, J.K. Rowling is a very clever author and very talented

the first book is.. well for the trush of you ask me... 3rd, 6th and 5th are the bast for me.. after that the 7th and finally the 2nd which also doesn't impress me.. I like that they are easy to read! And i get to practice my english even more

Yes, they are kids books, but so is Twilight. In fact, give what I read of it, I think that Twilight mostly appeals to teenage girls. That's the sense that I really got when I read it, whereas Harry Potter appeals to both boys and girls. I guess me having been a tomboy of sorts during my youth, I tend to lean towards the adventuresome aspects of Harry Potter just because. I will say straight up that I did give both series of books a fair chance though.

Oh well, I digressed a little.

I read through all of Harry Potter and loved it, my favortite ones being 3 and 6. I didn't like 4 and 5 as much, as they were long and sort of drawn out. I didn't like the endless camping trip in book seven, but I loved the overall feel of the book, and also saw elements of spirituality in it, which, of course, was very nice. If you ask me which movies were the best, I would say I love the first three, and six. Number four didn't appeal at all, perhaps because of my feelings about the book. But, four was filmed in a monastery not a castle, and so instead of enjoying the movie, I was studying the archetechture. (It was during that time I was writing my novel, The Vows of Silence', which might explain that bit).

True, After I read Harry Potter I started another series, and it was not the same. I haven't found such exciting books since the series ended.

I did enjoy Howl's Moving Castle though...but that's not a series.

Same here!! I don't think I'll ever feel the same way about another series! XD
I remember being up all night reading the 7th book, just because I couldn't put it down till I'd finished it. Wouldn't recommend it though - wasn't the smartest thing I did, but couldn't help myself!

I actually loved Moving Castle. It was really a great fantasy story. I decided to read the book after watching the movie. I think I liked the handling of the movie about as much as I liked the book.

Check the Anime suggestions thread in Movies and TV. I don't know if Anime is your thing, I recently got interested in it because of the movie 'My Neighbor Totoro'. There are a lot of really great film suggestions there, including Howl's Moving Castle'. That was actually how I got interested in reading the book.

From what i've been reading the will be an 8th book.. It's not that i'm not happy but it'sunfair to those waiting for soooooo long to get the numbered last books... And also i'm unsure if it will be any good..

What do you think?

Hmm...I feel the same way as you do! I didn't like the Epilogue of the 7th part...and I'm not really looking forward to reading about their adult lives or their kid's adventures...somehow it feels like that would just ruin the rest of the series for me... But if they were coming back again to finish their next year...oh well...I don't know...what's interesting after Voldie's dead? Really unsure- but you never know...I mean J.K's a genius for coming up with HP, so maybe the next one wouldn't be so bad.

But what's your source by the way?? First time I'm hearing about the 8th book..this really made me sad...I miss the series

i too am a fan of harry potter or as we call it in my house harry pot pot (don't ask why cuz there really is no reason) however, i didnt' want to start reading the series until all the movies are out. i hate going back and forth from book to movie... i'd rather have all of it at my immediate disposal! tee hee!

but you can count me in as a true fan! (don't tell but i ALMOST love HPP as much as i love twilight! yikes!) that may change after i read the books!

It's a fabulous movie. I really love it. Christian Bale does the voice of Howl, and a lot of the other voices are really great people. Grandma Sophie's voice is Jean Simmons. It's really a graet cast of voices.
