  1. Nice one Dave, but WTF were you doing up at 3:51 this morning? Indian passing through was it? I tried to ring you shortly after I left as there was a scamera van on the A46, but no signal or summat. I was lucky enough to be following a van at the time, otherwise could have been sticky-most of the ride home was around the 1 decaton mark.
  2. Likewise Mick, not the best day for it but hey ho, it's nice to be out on two wheels all the same
  3. Even your mirrors have turned away in disgust!
  4. Mick PM me in the morning-if I can get I'll be coming down the M1 from Nottm, so could meet up & get lost together Dave, any chance of that disk we discussed last week?
  5. Bike started first prod only question now is am I man enough, and do I have enough cash to buy some ?
  6. OK, can someone reconfirm venue & time as I'm too lazy to trawl through five pages of a thread to find out. If it's a decent morning I might have a ride down. If the bike starts after such a long period of inactivity. Best go out & try it today.
  7. Downloaded the manual & my prime suspect is the alternator drive chain tensioner. Sits slap bang next to the clutch basket so if it takes a dump could easily jam into the side, lock the plates as well as the engine.
  8. My dad's got quite a lot of water spare on his lounge carpet.
  9. Just had a phone call from a friend of my brother in law's. He's got a C3 1100, left it idling while he put his gloves on, and the engine stopped with a slight metallic clonk as he put it. Now the engine won't turn over on the starter (relay is clicking) and he can't pull the clutch in properly. He wondered if it seized but I don't see why that would stop the clutch from operating. I didn't know if there's a starter clutch assembly in these bikes, as I know from Bandit experience that the starter gear can break and jam everything up. Any input gratefully received before I go to have words with it, probably next weekend.
  10. Cheers Dave, I'll prob ring you in the morning for a bit of advice if no more
  11. Hey Dave I can't sleep worrying about the parents, having no money, yadda yadda just made a nice cup of tea so if it's anything like Eastenders it's all gonna be OK now
  12. Power supply checked in another machine, worked no problem. Did wonder about the CMOS backup, prob worth a bit of a look. Having said which it happened during operation, normally CMOS failures occur on startup.
  13. Just been trying to find what went wrong. I've reassembled the old unit with a sacrificial hard drive but it won't boot. Fan comes on straightaway but no little beep, no BIOS screen. Looks like a shagged mobo. Ah well, I've now got a few spares. Nice SATA optical drive & USB card reader etc.
  14. I don't know how many times I've said that very thing Lee-"I must have shot a robin". As Nietzsche would tell us though, what doesn't kill you makes you stronger. Mind you, he spent 11 years catatonic!
  15. Regulars on here know of my recent trials & tribulations which have dogged me most of this year. Although this is not actually me, my mum & dad's had a burst pipe which has literally dumped the contents of the loft into the lounge, along with rather a lot of water. So they've got no ceiling, a soaked carpet, and of course everyone's packing up for Xmas. Off up there tomorrow (they live near Barnsley) to see what's to do. A few jobs I'm not going to complete before the break, but there's obviously no choice. As the song goes, if it wasn't for bad luck I'd have no luck at all.
  16. I'll have a copy when you get one then Nae bother china. I'll keep you informed.
  17. Problem is Rose, if your hard drive fails there's no means of reinstalling an operating system in a new one without a disk. No prob recovering system failures as I've done, & I've now got a second drive installed for backups, but if you have a hardware failure not so straightforward.
  18. As some of you know, my PC crapped out on Sunday. Got it recovered & it's a happy ending. However, this again points up the difficulty in not having a pukka Windows disk-the O/S is preinstalled and although system errors can generally be retrieved, a hardware failure such as the hard drive packing up would leave me seriously buttf**ked. So, has anyone got a Windows Vista Home Premium disk which they no longer need or which they would be prepared to copy for me/lend me to copy to enable me to reinstall if necessary? Thanks in anticipation.
  19. Does my heart good to see that someone is still building this type of bike. Long may it continue. good work m8
  20. You can't keep a good man down-in a rare moment of forward planning I had bought a second tower unit like the one that crapped out. Fitted my defunct drive and after a long time the autorepair feature actually worked! Why it didn't do so when I tried another tower unit is beyond me, and frankly my dear I don't give a damn. I've got all my pics & emails & other shit I hadn't backed up so it's a happy ending. Back of the net

    hello

welcome Mr Carper. I very much doubt anyone would object to your posting on both forums. Most other ppl on here do anyway.
