  1. Say I own bike A. I want to buy bike B in scotland. I have comprhensive insurance on bike A. Can I travel to scotland, buy bike B which had no insurance and ride it home then start hunting for the best quote? just to be clear the reason i am not getting the cover first is i want to fit some security devices and last thing i want is to pay the premium, then fit the device and the insurance says they'll knock 20 quid off.
  2. being of a rotund stature, protective overlays do nothing to flatter my image. Nonetheless I would rather boil in them on a summers day and have a smile at the end of my ride.
  3. yeah pal, thanx for the advice. I feel for you man, i carried your reg number on my phone checking every similar bike wherever I went. Is the xj safe now?
  4. The job is ongoing and possibly permanent. I frankly don't know what that means nowadays. I got one of those oxford screamer alarmed dics locks but they go off with the slightest gust of wind so i don't bother arming it. Having looked into trackers, they on seem to be good for lowering insurance policies and if you have a mate with a car and a cricket bat to chase after your bike as the coppers usually aren't interested. Am i being overly pessimistic or is today's world just shitty?
  5. The article did say police have increased patrols in the area but I bet they never leave their cars. I've got a disc lock and a chain. I am considering buying a shitty old bike for work and gamble on whether the damned thing starts or gets me home in one piece.
  6. I walk to work so my bike is just for fun but to fund a trip to ireland in the summer I have been looking for a part time job. I went for an interview today at rolls royce (barlick) and they will let me know tomorrow. By chance I googled Rolls royce car park and an article flashes up. Earlier this month a landrover was stolen in the morning and a 700 pound bicycle in the afternoon. As I will have to use my bike to work.... what are my chances??
  7. Cheers mate. Think it will be okay. As Dick said above, there's no point in them investing all the time and money in me than not giving me the position they've trained me for, and I have been doing for the last few years I hope he gets the job. I found out to my expense that sometimes being in training or development is done chiefly to line the pockets of management. But soon as the economy makes a healthy turn-a-round I will be moving on.
  8. made me feel all " mechanic-y" when i bought one
