  1. no I haven't yet. I thought with the sun out I may as well have another ride out in case I cocked the seal change up and grounded the bike. So I went out to kelder water and a certain alter ego convinced me to lug my unfit 20 stone frame round the lake ( 26 miles). Adding to that a 8 hour round trip , I am the one that has been grounded. Crawling to the bathroom now and again I haven't done much since but I will do it on friday and report back.
  2. FANTASTIC... no shortage of people to pick my bits off the road and put me back together ... touch wood
  3. any one feel like we are all living zombie like existances. can't really see what's in front of us??
  4. sweet. I have sorted the jack problem. My local mechanic has said I can borrow his over the weekend. Bet suzuki plc would never have done that. Do I absolutely need a seal driver to make sure the seals seat properly or is there another way round that monkey as well?
  5. hi all, i will have to change fork oil seals on my suzuki 125. After utilising you tube tutorials I realise i may have to use a jack which I do not have. I have a rear paddock stand and working in a confined yard space. Any one have any tips on how to get round the jacking of the bike and are there any parts you would recommend changing whilst the forks are asunder??
  6. i am completely with you. I was out on my trusty 125 intruder and 3 times sports bikes came flying past me, never mind using the empty on coming lane, they just had to squeeze in my lane so that i was sure how fast they were traveling. Had a great day though, apart from the puncture right outside bernard castle police station. A couple of tyre mechanics soon had me on my way ( mark gibson motor services dl2 3px). While the sun is out I might make a run to kelder forest. Ride safe all.
  7. i agree. A couple of years ago fifth gear did what they called comprehensive lab tests on different fuels and found that in day to day driving, it did not matter. Driving techniques mattered alot more than what fuel you used.
  8. 67-year-old Sabine Moreau originally planned to drive 38 miles to Solre-sur-Sambre in Belgium to pick up a friend from the station, the Daily Mail reports, but when her sat-nav decided to take the scenic route, she ended up some 900 miles away in Zagreb, Croatia. Such was her faith in the sat-nav, she failed to realise she had driven through six countries with different languages on the road signs. She stopped multiple times to refuel and, incredibly, even parked up in a lay-by for a few hours to sleep. When asked whether the length of her journey seemed strange, Moreau said: "Maybe, but I was just preoccupied... I was a bit absent-minded as I had a few things to think about, I suppose."

  10. there is that case of a 13 year old girl walking on a country road getting run over and subsequently paralysed by a speeding driver. If the insurance company gets its way, it may be the beginning of an expectation for motorcyclists to be overtly visible.... fingers crossed

  18. thanx. put a heavy duty chain on today but it started raining b4 i could test it. There did not seem to be any damage to the sprockets just minor bits of shearing in surrounding areas. guess i was lucky on that one.
  19. my chain was loose and i thought i would have a go at tightening it. As the adjusters were all the way back, I had a mate remove one link. I cleaned some very mucky sprockets and put the chain back on. I was not quite right. It felt ever so slightly out and I thought 'it will settle in'.... bad mistake. while rushing to buy an indicator bulb the damn thing came off and i seem to only have lost the master link. I had alot of time to question why I live on top of a hill as i pushed the bike up it. By the time i got home there was no places open to buy a new chain so no ride out for me tomorrow. I saw someone on a bike on telly and got mad. If only I had read the manual and realised I should have loosened the torque link nut. That has always been a weak one for me, reading manuals. Are there any other issues/damage that may occur when a chain comes off at urban speeds?
