A couple of us are having a run over too from Mansfield area, got a couple of new tyres to scrub in so an 80 mile blast will be just right. Setting off early because I've got to be back for 1.30 ish, so will be leaving the cafe about 12....should see you lot there for a natter, be nice to put a few more faces to names. Look out for a couple of naked MK2 1200's, one red and one blue. Trev

They are local to me but not heard a lot about them to be honest so cant offer any advise as to the quality that they sell. But if you're mechanic friend knows his stuff, he'll spot weather its a pup or not. Might call in if I'm over that way. Take some extra cash with you, Just Bandits is about 20 yards away !

Mark 1 Bandit seat ?
gtman replied to Davehutch-hutchs's topic in Advice on Repairing and maintaining your bike
I took mine and fetched it back when it was done. The first one that I had done, he done while I waited, had a walk round the town for a couple of hours and it was done when I got back. I have known people ring him up and arrange a day and time to take it over so he can do it there and then. This time of year though he can be very busy. He does do a collection and delivery service, but no idea of cost. -

Spada “Milan” Textile Trousers. Size L. Quilted thermal lining. Adjustable and elasticated waist. Full and short zip to attach to jacket. Knee armour. Zip and velcro leg closure. 2 outer pockets. Hook and eye waist closure. These are virtually brand new having only been worn twice. They still have that “crinkly” new feel to them. Extremely comfortable to wear and, according to others who have them, 100% waterproof. Can’t vouch for them myself as I haven’t been out in the rain in them. They fit me perfectly apart from the leg length. I am 5’ 7” with a 29in (74cm) inside leg, these would suit someone with an inside leg of about 31in (78cm) I would say. £35 including postage, or collect from the Mansfield area. Trev

Spada Textile Jacket. Size Large. Zip out thermal lining. Fully armoured. Shoulders/elbows. Soft neck lining. 4 zipped outer pockets. 2 zipped vents on the back. Short zip on back to attach to trousers. Wallet pocket. Inside pocket. Arm adjusters. All poppers/zips and adjusters work ok. This jacket has had around two seasons use, the white panels could do with a scrub up but still a very serviceable and sound jacket. £25 including postage, or pick up from Mansfield area. Trev

Been watching the ISS since it first went up. The current mission has been live on Nasa TV 24/7, but they're winding it down now the shuttle has left the ISS....very interesting if you're into that kind of stuff. Not a lot going on sometimes but there has been some great moments and views from the cameras in the last few days like the docking/undocking of the shuttle, the two recent spacewalks all covered live and in HD. The Shuttle lands tomorrow (wed) at 5pm our time (I think!) Here's a couple of related links. http://www.nasa.gov/multimedia/nasatv/ustream.html http://www.isstracker.com/

As Dave says don't run the bike on prime. Prime is used to fill/flush the carbs out after a rebuild or maintenance work when the engine isn't running. When on prime it allows fuel to flow into the carbs without the engine running. When you run with the fuel tap on ON or RESERVE, the fuel tap is operated by a vacuum take off that shuts the fuel off when the engine stops. On Prime the fuel can still flow when the engine isn't running...if you've got a dodgy needle valve in the carbs, fuel can seep through into the engine. Trev

Time for a tyre thread

Hiya Alan, put Maxxis Supermaxx touring tyres on the bandit 12 last march, first rear lasted 4,500, second rear is on nearly 5,000 with a little still left to go....the front is the same one fitted in march, it looks as if its done 1,000 miles instead of nearly 10,000, I don't think it will ever wear out !! For the price they cant be beaten, however, I wouldn't put them in the same category as Bridgestone's, Dunlop ect. They are a decent run of the mill tyre, and are suited to normal everyday riding, they do take a bit of getting used to though, they follow lines/cracks/humps in the road like there's no tomorrow and the bike just doesn't feel "planted". But if you can see past these failings they are a decent tyre and once warmed up on a dry day they are up for a bit of hooning about. Initially I didn't like them and couldn't wait to get them off, but as the weather warmed up and I found out what they could and couldn't do I resolved to give them a fair trial and stuck with them. One of our Yorkshire lot has them on his ZZR 1400 and swears by them, (he runs the cafe at Premier Bikes in Askern near Doncaster if your ever up that way). he regularly goes over to the I.O.M and to quote him "nobody passes me over there"! trev -

Been a couple of times, its a mine for spares and odds and sods. well worth going if you're after something specific or just general spares. Beware of prices though, some of the traders charge the earth for early bike spares. Went last year, had enough of looking round after 5 hours...hadn't even been round it all by then
