  8. I was walking down the street when I was accosted by a particularly dirty and shabby-looking homeless woman who asked me for a couple of dollars for dinner. I took out my purse, got out ten dollars and asked, 'If I give you this money, will you buy wine with it instead of dinner?' 'No, I had to stop drinking years ago', the homeless woman told me. 'Will you use it to go shopping instead of buying food?' I asked. 'No, I don't waste time shopping,' the homeless woman said. 'I need to spend all my time trying to stay alive.' 'Will you spend this on a beauty salon instead of food?' I asked. 'Are you NUTS!' replied the homeless woman. I haven't had my hair done in 20 years!' 'Well, I said, 'I'm not going to give you the money. Instead, I'm going to take you out for dinner with my husband and me tonight.' The homeless Woman was shocked . 'Won't your husband be furious with you for doing that? I know I'm dirty, and I probably smell pretty disgusting...' I said, 'That's okay. It's important for him to see what a woman looks like after she has given up shopping, hair appointments, and wine.'
  9. It depends on what Brewery owns the pub you go in - in a Courage pub it would be Courage Light Ale in a Watneys pub it would be Watneys Light Ale etc etc
  10. If some people didn't get the joke I think you could have "articulated" it a bit better
  11. Thanks for that, they did say yesterday that they are going to have several around the country for next year so check out their website later on towards the end of this year to see if there's one near you
  12. Well the plan was for me to go with my son & daughter on their bikes but my son's Ninja failed it's MOT last Thursday so I ended up going on my own, took a chance on the weather and though it was a bit chilly and breezy, especially waiting on Hullavington runway for 2.5 hours before I got my turn to go, it was worth it, a very emotional ride of about 15 miles ending up riding through Wootton Bassett, it was amazing with loads of people out waving and cheering in all the little villages on the way, awesome experience being amongst 10,000 bikers, all there to pay our respects to our lads in the forces and to raise loads of dosh for the charity Help for Heroes, all in all a memorable day

    Hiya

Hi and welcome to the forum
  14. It's a half pint of Bitter with a half pint bottle of Light Ale, hence "Light and Bitter" Used to be a popular drink back in the '70s - you usually ended up with over a pint 'cos in those days the half wasn't measured electronically but by pulling a pump so you'd get more than half a pint of bitter, then add the bottle of light ale
