  1. It seems that nowadays, life expectancy is directly related to job success - if you have a shitty, low paid, low responsibility job - you'll live forever! but if you're a high flier with shed loads of cash and all the worlds responsibilities on your shoulders - you'll live just long enough to say to yourself one day - "bugger me - I'm rich!" then you'll cark it
  2. As I have been neglecting my greetings of late, I should like to take this opportunity to say greetings to all new members who haven't been greeted by myself as yet so:- GREETINGS!!!! and welcome
  3. Remember though size isn't everything - up until the government decided to hamstring the armed forces recently, on any major international exercise - other nations used to ask the royal navy to provide their air defence cover, including the americans!! as the fleet air arm and air defence surface vessels of the royal navy were regarded as being the most proffessional and effective in the world!, also the yanks hate going up against british subs on exercise because they nearly always lose. It is pretty impressive though!!
  4. maybe being ladies they have boobs of steel???
  5. Yup - he's an eejit!! he either rides like that for his "15 minutes of fame" on youtube without concern for his or anyone else's welfare, or he has an incredibly dangerous chemical imbalance in his brain like other extreme thrillseekers and cannot help but risk his (and others) life on a daily basis - either way it's going to end in tears!
  6. I make models of old sailing ships!!(mostly during those long winter nights) and I do a bit of fishing (coarse and sea), like to potter in the garden too and lots of walking/swimming to keep fit - used to do triathlons and orienteering in the army - thinking of getting back into orienteering as a senior, cos I'm gettin old(er) now - I also like to take advantage of nature's larder and make a lot of jam/puddings/pickles/wines of various fruity (and sometimes honey!)origins
  7. is that a good job to be in being mobile etc? I thought about it a while ago but you've got to guarantee the work which put me off. I sort of do it as a half job/half hobby - I found that initially it was a bit slow, put lots of business cards in the local training centre and other bike related places, but as people used and were happy with my services, they put the word out with their friends etc and now I find myself with plenty to do. I wouldn't say it's always easy but I do it for the love of it and when I lose the "love" I'll give it up!! Admittedly I'm lucky in that I didn't have to put out much initial outlay and I wasn't totally dependant on having a good workload from day one so I've had an easy ride of it (excuse the pun! )
  8. I'm self-employed as a mobile bike mechanic!! just can't get enough of two wheels!
