  1. And another thing I forgot to add: one of the houses we had wanted to buy at one time before we got our current house burned down a few years later--bad wiring I think!!!! It really does pay to wait for the Lord's timing because He can see the end from the beginning!
  2. I'm glad you got celebrated on your birthday, you deserve it!
  3. Happy Birthday, Connie! I hope your day tomorrow and the rest of the year are the best yet. You are a blessing to all of us!
  4. Lord, guide the surgeon's hands, bring Wendy peace and let her husband's recovery be quick. I pray you will guard their finances in this time and let this be a time of emotional bonding between Wendy and her husband.
  5. Fear of man is a snare, but he who trusts in the Lord will be safe, the Bible says. I am proud of you for not fearing man and setting boundaries! Good for you! Cholette is right, the Lord will give you strength as long as you're doing what He says and how He says to do it.
  6. Are tutors available who can help you? When I was in college I went to the recitation lectures (where graduate students do quick overviews) everybody else skipped and I know I got better grades because of it. I pray you'll find the solution you need.
  7. Dreamster--I'm getting hungry for cake!!!! Got any more left??????
  8. /t9695-gift-from-dead-sister This was a dream I had about the same sister. She was indeed a very precious gift to me.
  9. Yes--it reminded me of Mark 1: 30-31 where Simon Peter's mother-in-law got healed of a fever and she turned around and served Jesus and some of the disciples. Sometimes taking the widow's mite (so to speak) is a very hard thing. I remember when my sister was dying of cervical cancer and she insisted on making me a birthday cake--it took every ounce of my strength just to smile and thank her for her sacrifice.
  10. My husband and son and I just came back from visiting my dad and stepmom--my stepmom is home and doing VERY well. I was trying to do a few things to help her out--scrub the floor etc-- but she wouldn't let me and even walked down the basement stairs herself to get some hot chocolate mix to feed us!
  11. Surgery went well, praise the Lord! My stepmom should be able to come home tonight!
  12. My stepmom is having a breast removed tomorrow. She will not need to take chemotherapy afterward, only pills. The docs are very optimistic since the cancer is only Stage 1. I just talked to my stepmom this morning and she seemed to be in very good spirits; I know that has a lot to do with all the prayer that's coming her way so thanks, guys!
  13. Happy Birthday, D! I hope your day is great and the year ahead even better!
  14. Habakkuk--I have prayed for you, but may I get on my soapbox a minute? If you were my son, this is what I'd tell you: Read the Word, spend time with God and His people and read the Word some more, follow peace and joy and don't be afraid to get counsel--in the multitude of counselors there is safety, Proverbs says. If you're serious about wanting to hear God's voice He WILL speak to you. You are right to know it's possible to be deceived, but don't be afraid to take small baby steps in the direction you think God is leading you. When I've stepped out in what I thought was the right direction but wasn't, God was very gracious to pick me up, dust me off and let me try again. My own personal opinion is God would rather have us stepping out in faith doing things we think He wants us to than to be so paralyzed with fear we'll miss His will we never try anything. --Deborah, off her soapbox now
  15. The docs are now saying there's no osteomylitis (bone infection) so that's good-the ulcer remains though. This case has the docs stumped. I'm just glad for Doctor Jesus.
  16. Thanks so much for the prayers, Daisy! My husband just underwent a series of tests--the docs are trying to rule out bone infection. We should have the results of those tests tomorrow, thanks for asking. My husband's hospital is a 4-hour drive one way so I've been doing a lot of driving.
  17. My parents were married more than 50 years. Then my mother died of a stroke. My dad was in his 80s when he remarried a woman almost 10 years younger. My stepmom just found out she has to fight breast cancer. I request prayer for her certainly but also for my father who is now 89. My dad has had to bury his first wife, two daughters, a son, two grandchildren and a daughter-in-law. I am very concerned for him too. I am unsure of my dad's relationship with Jesus. I've witnessed to him, but I'm just not sure where he or my stepmom stand with the Lord.
  18. The plastic surgeon does not know why this wound is not healing. He took a culture and did a biopsy--we should get the results in about a week. The culture says infection.
  19. The plastic surgeon does not know why this wound is not healing. He took a culture and did a biopsy--we should get the results in about a week.
  20. The enemy must be really scared of the power (we call Him Jesus) that's in you that he'd wage such a terrible war against you. Prayin...
  21. That's right, Connie! Thanks, everyone, for your prayers! We're going to see the plastic surgeon about this skin graft Tuesday, I'll keep you all posted.
