@fr499y wrote:there was a old fix for the petrol rav 4.. i believe it was buy the 2L diesel instaid?
correct, We've got a 2.2 Rav4 never had a problem with it
On a serious note have a look on the Rav4 section of the Toyota owners sites, you'll find the answers there with a search or be able to ask the questions. just for your info if you didn't know you've got a Rav 4.2 model just so you look up the right model info

That's the only way but you've got to have a good reason to get it, and there's a fee.
Rose coloured glasses though dude, my first bike was the Frsncis Barnett equivalent - 197cc Falcon I'd never want that back. -
The memory is going but something like...
DaveHutch
Trebor
Yankeedoodle
GTMan
Surplus6
Fish
Gavlar
Jaygo
SuzukiJax
Delboy
Vandernator
Always1more
Robbie
Nobby
Andy
sure there's more -
Buggles on OSS also does them, top or bottom brace, round or box section, used to charge £75 a year or so ago, dunno how much it is now, quite a few on there have been done by him, all satisfied customers. You'll get hold of Yantosh on there as well. -
@maxnod wrote:So it's The Stroling Bones, but it's not Marianne Faithfull, the bird................
Jeez, I know the face, I'm sure I do, but buggered if I can remember her name....
Pity they had to use a Sportster for the photoshoot!
....and it's not Anita Pallenberg either, her and Faithful were about the only "known" regular groupies, the other hundreds just passed through -

@2wheels wrote:Aren't the shocks off centre on those. My mates got one and iv said in the past they're very good looking arms and pointed that out as possibly why they're not used n fighters much?
I thought that at as well when I first checked them out but the arm sits "offset" so the bottom mount is central when fitted. But it's 30odd mm wider than the Bandit and probably a lot of other bikes as well, way too much to bodge it on without major frame mods. -
Never mind, shows how much him and me know about them.
That K4 is a bargain but I'll have to pass, got other irons in the fire at the moment, thanks anyway. -
Something like this
Got a mate who's got a one man bike shop and does a bit of breaking, he's got that one, looks OK no gouges/scratches etc just a bit grubby. Thinks it's an 02 ish bike and thought the swingarms were all banana not just from 04.
He wants £40 for it and the linkages are included.
If you're interested he's Mike Ford (RSC Motorcycles) give him a bell on 07817 717092. (it's Stoke-ish area)
Those swingarms must be about the nicest OE ones out there, shame it's way too much work to fit it to a Bandit otherwise it would have been in my shed ages ago -

I'd love a late 70's 400/4, but because of insurance and what-not I'll most likely be looking at something a bit smaller like an old cb250 of sorts
Well done Insurance shouldn't be that bad on an old 400/4, classic policies(over 15years) are always cheaper.....but they don't let you build up no claims with a classic policy.. -
@Chadatious wrote:the definition streetfighter is "to repair a sports bike as cheaply as possible"
No it's not and never has been, ripping a fairing off a damaged sports bike or sticking a pair of Renthalls and some twin bates on a Bandit will never make a streetfighter though to the uninformed they are. -

@pugeyed wrote:just so you know, this annodising wasnt very thick, other stuff i have had a nightmare with but you never know till you try. this took me 2 hours.
Nice write up if you've got thick thick anodising just soak it in Caustic Soda which is full Hydrogen Peroxide, 20 minute soak in that will remove any anodising, rinse off and it's ready for polishing back up.Really evil stuff though.
edit..Flinty beat me to it -
There's no actual "law" saying you need a chainguard by name....BUT...it comes under the catch all of dangerous parts under Construction and Use.
"A motor vehicle and all parts and accessories of such vehicle shall at all times be in such condition that no danger is caused or likely to be caused to any person in or on the vehicle or on a road."
That's why it may fail an MOT if it hasn't got one and you have provision for a pillion and why you could get done for it if stopped. -
Staffs Bike show on at the Britannia Stadium this Sunday. Seems to be a fair few exhibitors and demos including stunt shows, and best of all free admission and parking.

Nice , seen your plan dude, getting an alutec van with 10 year ingress warranty means you'll be able to get the striple before you get any problem with the van
-
Can see the attraction in them if you've got some kind of disability that keeps you off 2 wheels but other than that you might as well be in a car stuck in the traffic. -
@stantheman wrote:lee yuove got to sell the bling separately mate just to get near what its worth even if you say swap engine caseings part exchange the bike is still mint
Exactly, no one is going to pay anywhere near what it's worth and when all's said and done as nice as it is it's just a 600, you'd be lucky to get top dollar if it was a 1200 because almost no one pays for extras. Take the bling off and sell it as fairly standard and you will make something like the right money. -
@suzukijax wrote:Go and watch football
typical girly answer , the season is over bar the U21's, rather watch paint dry than watch football anyway. -
Know the feeling, only had the bike out once in the last 5 weeks as I've got an badly infected hand again. The only time it went out was to go to the hospital Dermatology unit a couple of weeks ago, wish I hadn't bothered as ended up having two unexpected biopsies on hand and finger, had to rush back on the bike before the local anaesthetics wore off
Getting real withdrawal symptoms can't even mess in the shed making/improving bits got loads lined up but it's improving, stitches out today and I'll finally take it out to the hospital again on Thusday. -

I don't think the above would work but hey ho, My only solution would be keep to the speed limits simples!
Correct, it's another urban myth from a few years back. -
A 13mm only just grips on a standard M8 allen head, you were lucky if it gripped enough to get the bolt out. 12mm is the one to bang over. -
@swifty wrote:
Also if your having problems taking the old header bolts off because the allen heads have rounded off, warm up your engine for a while put plenty of plus gas on them and hammer a 13mm socket over the allen bolts and they come off a treat
It's a 12mm multipoint socket you use not a 13mm, it's a 65mm length of 60mm ID stainless tube you need to replace the mild steel piece and don't grind/cut 2" long slits in it, they only have to be 20-25mm as the pipe only sticks out 30 odd mm from the collector.
