    I'm in the process of replacing the fork seals on my 98 B12,(getting it ready for sale) and while it's in bits I was contemplating putting the original fork springs back in. So, a pair of Hagon progressive fork springs with less than 1,000 miles on them may be for sale. Any takers around the £40 mark?

    My sister in law has goosed her lappy pretty badly one way and another, so I think it might be as well to reinstall the OS. Of course no disc came with the machine, so is there anyone out there who can lend/copy me a Windows 7 Home Premium installation disc?

    If you mean the screw in the middle that balances the carbs in pairs that has to be a standard Metric screw. I've probably got something in my toolbox. If it's flooding that's not balancing mate. That sounds more like leaking/stuck float, needle or bowl. They need to come off and be serviced I'd suggest.

Here's one for you-when I was a MAG rep I read a TRL report which stated that 38% of pedestrians involved in collisions with vehicles were over the drink drive limit. When should we start breathalysing pedestrians?

    I've just got back from a steady couple of days in Cumbria. Two nice, unstressful jobs, and I got finished in time for a bit of a ramble near Coniston. So as Emmerdale was starting (always a price to pay ) I was enjoying a chunk of flapjack here Overlooking Coniston Water from Beacon Fell. The hotel is at the far end of the lake. Happily the car is at the near end! That's the Old Man of Coniston in the background on this one. Then back to the Black Bull (it actually has the brewery behind the pub, can't get fresher than that) couple of pints of stout and a sirloin steak on the company. Why can't it always be like this?

    ....but back on topic, funnily enough I've also been looking at tents. I'm warming to the notion of some wild camping to extend the range of my walking. Now where did I put that Kendal mint cake...

    I'm going to disagree with that. Overweight and not a great seat, at least the one I rode wasn't. And if you consider I managed to run a 1200 Kwak for 47,000 miles on one chain, I'm less than convinced about the need for power sapping shaft drive.

    A few miles extra won't kill it Dave. You're doing good distance trips so the oil will be nice & hot, that's the biggest single thing. I'd leave it til you get back.

    Only cuz the leccies are in a PANNIER. I bet you'd love it if the wiring could be squeezed under the seat.

    Any good at what? I reckon to get the best from Mercedes you need to keep them for a long time since longevity is their strong point. Not cheap to run day to day though.

    I've got nothing but praise for Givi Dick. My pannier has actually taken the full weight of the bike twice-and it's no lightweight- when it's rolled off the stand and survived with just a few scratches. Nicely made, will leak in extreme weather but effectively waterproof. And they provide a comprehensive spare parts service.
