Bodges don't you love em?

Thanks Jezza I think you are right according to the wiring manual the rev counter wiring does indeed go to the cdi then there is another feed to a pick-up coil. It was the wrong regulator for the bike and the wires had melted at the block connector I now have the correct one fitted and a healthy 14.4v at approx 3000 revs. Skelly (Alan) has an old rev counter off something so am going to try and connect this up and try to eliminate either the wiring or rev counter to be the problem @ fr499y - Matt had a look can't see anything like a pickup at the front and am getting power to the needle as it rises to 2000 revs as soon as the ignition is switched on, so don't think it is a broken wire (but what do I know lol) I do not believe it is supposed to rise like this and think Jezza could be right about the rev counter electronics being damaged due to the wrong rectifier/regulator fitted anyway as and when i find the cause I will post up (if it was my Bandit I would be more concerned ) Yes jezza is right, its the GS with the cable i was thinking of! -

fr499y replied to Davehutch-hutchs's topic in Advice on Repairing and maintaining your bike
i'd still take my Squire ML2L over an alarm disc lock anyday! ( the yellow/black one i had with me on the southern rideout ) Squire ML2L They have a 10 year guarantee with them as well. I know its not exactly what your after but i can highly recommend them OH and a Datatool S4 Red is a good alarm, helps knock a few quid off ya insurance with them 2 as well -

400cc single cylinder thumper could do with a bit more poke to get ya past cars and what not, but get it on the back roads and its a laugh and a half! Found myself going round most of the corners on the way home last night at 70 odd lol. It's a proper grin from ear to ear bike I didn't see the point in having 2 1000cc+ bikes so thought what the hell.

people like to lane hog. How many times have you been stuck behind someone in the second lane when the first is clear? Not being able to get out into the third because dick in his audi or harry in his bmw is doing well over 100 without a care in the world? I can see what you mean with not constantly moving over from second lane to first lane for the sake of a few yards when you will need to move again to overtake a lorry/caravan/that 40mph driver on the motorway.
