  1. They are all places I've visited several times, but I thought it would be nice to show Bron. She needs a few lazy days, so i'll let her pick and choose.
  2. Mrs is a workaholic, She's worked the last two Sundays, starts early and is on the work phone most evenings, hasnt had 2 weeks straight away from work in maybe 10 years. Just getting away will do her good. We have a very rough list of "maybe's" to visit, never going to do them all but should do a few, Jamaica Inn, St Micheals Mount, Port Isaac, Mevagissey, Stone Henge, Stratford on Avon, Warwick Castle, Hay on Wye, Harlech, Beddgelert, Portmeirion, Snowdon, Llechwedd slate caverns, Iron Bridge, Crooked House Pub, Old Trip to Jerusalem Pub, Bibury, Stow on the Wold, Burton on the Water.
  3. Thanks Guys. Fly Brisbane - Dubai - Birmingham. Visit family in Kidderminster, then off to stay in St Ives and see Cornwall, Booked a night in Stratford to see a production of King John, ( St Ives to Stratford via Stonehenge ) then back off across Mid and North Wales. Partner has seen most of Europe but she has never been to the UK or met my family.
  4. No more work for 17 days ! Yaaaaahoooo!!! Suitcase out, passport found...
  5. Those look good. In the 1st pics off the bike I thought the link pipes look long, and thought they may be further back. It wasnt the case. They sit well and the length looks good.
  6. Well done Mate.... 6 years is the longest anyone has put up with me, but like a mate said... "Oh well, at least you get a change of scenery" ...
  7. A good mix of toys and projects. That'll keep you busy! The Kwak's the closest to my taste. If there were no Suzuki's i'd be on a Kawasaki. No bike parts allowed in our house, but then the Mrs isnt allowed in my shed either.
  8. Not many green one's here. Red seems more popular. We did get a green a year or two earlier, They were sold as a Limited Edition "Manta Ray"
  9. Might be worth mentioning to those that dont know, service books arent hard to get hold of, and rubber stamps/dealer stamps are easy to get made, either a copy of a local dealer or a Mickey Mouse made up name from out of town one. 2 or 3 years service history takes about 10 minutes to create. A service history with a bike is nice, but im very cautious when buying. If service history really means a lot to you, check with the dealer, as he should have a record.
  10. Never paid for a first service yet. Bikes, car's, utes, got 8 brand new Kia trucks about to get there's. Sort out all the costs, spec's, finance etc etc when you buy something new, get a Rock-Solid price, and with the pen in your hand, just about to sign, ask..."this does include the 1st service?" If it doesnt, say deals off and walk away. Never failed for me yet, and they cant stick it on a price thats already been agreed to. 1st service is p1ss-easy and costs them very little in time, labour or materials. On seconds thoughts..... You lot keep paying it !! If everyone does what I do they'll add it onto the original cost...
  11. Im certainly going to get the front looked at and upgraded. I ride with a couple of lads with 14's and it seems to be recommended. Front seems to be a little soft and vague to me. I know they are big heavy low tech bikes, and they will never be truly "sporty" but for two up use or when the pace is turned up a little I feel it could be better.
  12. Was out with a guy on todays ride who a mechanic / engineer / bikeshop owner. Got talking about jack-up blocks and modding swingarms. His opinion was that GSX14 rear shocks are pretty average anyway, so when he replaces them he specifies "+20mm" or "+25mm" in length when ordering. He's going to get me a price. Might be a very simple solution. Better shockers and better ride height in one and easily reversable if required.
  13. Lad on another forum had a Bandit frame, Single sided Swingarm, Fireblade engine, funny front end off a 3 wheeled scooter thing....
  14. Back to "Randoms", but might be more to my taste than Dave's ?
  15. It hasnt happened yet, but the company I worked for has sold all its machinery and im the only guy left out of 14 !! Boss has another buissenes but not really suitable for me. I have 5 weeks "long service leave" pay I can draw on, so its not all panic yet.
  16. Had a blast with a few local guys today. BMW S1000RR, K1300, ZZR1400, Ducati Monster, and a few other quick riders. I like my new Sportsmarts. Rear is marked almost to the edge chasing guys through the twistys. Might be my last ride for a while. Working all week, then off to the UK for 2 weeks, and dont think I'll have a job to come back too!
  17. He really is. When we had the bad bush fires down South a couple of years back, that killed several and destroyed whole towns he left his farm and went firefighting till it was done.
  18. An old pic, old story, but one i thought i'd share. A guy I know out here, Greg, is a farmer and an on-call emergency fireman. He's a top bloke and very helpful. In his spare time he builds turbo bikes, he's helped out a lot of guys and has built himself some amazingly quick turbo Hayabusa's. He built his own turbo kit for his 750, took all the bits back off, put them in a case and flew out to the US. On a very limited budget, he bought another old GSXR750, bolted his bits on and went racing. Havent checked recently but for quite a while he held the World Record for his class. 220+mph on a stock bodywork 750 streetbike.
  19. No. Dispite my bike's ! OldSkool Suzuki have air/oil/water sections and some very smart people. Less social and more technical.
  20. That's nice !! I like it. There have been a few done, one bloke had built a couple. "SLABSIDE 1100K ENGINE" K wasnt a Slabsider though, K model was a Slingshot... "slabsider" was due to the big flat sidepanel under the seat, Gone on the curvy frame K / Sligshot. http://www.suzukicycles.org/GSX-R-series/GSX-R1100.shtml
  21. She's not as bike mad as I am, and we always agreed it wouldnt be a drama as bikes were my thing and she understood that. Will be nice to have someone with me again on lazy breakfast rides and she's keen on a few weekends away as the 14 has a tank bag and a rack and Givi box. (might be handy having my Lawyer with me... )
  22. Ex-wife and ex-partners all rode bikes. Been going out with Bron for 18 months. She's never been on my bike. She's never been on a motorbike... EVER! Not a drama, we both have our own interests. Today she bought herself a helmet and armoured jeans. I just took her out on the Hayabusa. She loved it. " When can we go again! "
