Only thing is RAC cover and I think AA covers the person, not a specific vehicle. RAC covers me & wife for any vehicle in which we're travelling, renewal is £123 so just gonna shop around a bit first.

Honest Dave I had a better time yesterday driving the mrs out in the car. Went round Carsington, Dovedale, coffee in Tissington, back through Wirksworth. Much nicer. In fact that route's a deffo for next year I reckon

I had a visit to make in Wolverhampton, which put me halfway to Llangollen, so come 12 o' clock & I thought I'd do the scenic ride home via the Horseshoe Pass. M54 & A5 came and went, and then the brief climb up the Horseshoe to the Ponderosa. What can I say-I was underwhelmed. That much vaunted road is only a few miles long, and consists of cattle grids, loose gravel on the bends, and sheep everywhere. Didn't bother taking pics even. As for the cafe itself, it reminded of those tearooms everybody gathered in on hols in Skeggy when it's raining again. All sat round in their hats & coats eating sausage sarnies. The sarnie left me feeling sick all the way home BTW. So, my advice-don't make a long trip to visit the Ponderosa or the Horseshoe Pass, they don't live up the hype. Blinding ride from Wrexham to Whitchurch on the A525 mind you then got lost in Stoke & finally made my way home through Ashbourne & Belper.280 miles all in, but most definitely something of a curate's egg. I'll stick to Derbyshire in future

Self employed-got a small embroidery business with my wife, although we've kinda made her redundant. Sold one of the machines last month. I'm a textile machine service engineer by trade, but of course the arse has gone out of that too. I'm off to an employment agency tomorrow to try & get a crappy labourer/packer job on nights to hopefully pick up a bit more cash. Lean times ahead for all of us yet I fear.

I don't know about the 650, but the 1000 is well known for the Green Connector issue. There's a multi connector under the headstock which is prone to frying itself, giving various problems including loss of lights, clocks, indicators and up to complete and total breakdown. Easy to fix, just a bit fiddly. A bit more info would be handy-age of the bike, mileage, service history. Pinking-is it while the bike's running, under load or when stationary? Or is it when she stops it? It's not possibly the cans cooling more rapidly in the cooler weather? Again, a bit more info would be handy. PS may seem slightly random, but does the clutch cutout switch work properly. Has it been bypassed?

Did I say I was fast? I love a bimble, in fact my Bandit very rarely sees more than 60 mph these days. But honestly, if you're coming this way let me know-I know Derbys pretty well & may know a few routes you aren't aware of

I've had my Bandit 10 years now, I'd be very reluctant to see it go. Not a lot of scope for weight saving really so you just need to learn to (wo)manhandle it More bling available than decorum ought to allow, so you could tart the old girl up a bit. That said, I'm a big fan of SVs as Suzukijax has commented on and they certainly are easier to lug about due to weight and narrowness. In fact I'm hoping to view an SV1000S at the weekend. Don't forget you can get the SV650N I think it is with the upright position and no screen. Nearest you'll get to a slim, lighter B600 IMHO.

I've got EBC organics in my ZZR. No complaints, I've heard they don't wear too well. Bear in mind with HH pads you can accelerate disc wear, so unless you do track or ride like a twat on the road I'm not sure what they offer.

Has that rear end been jacked up?
