I have a damp sponge tucked between the screen and the clocks when i get splatted just reach for it and wipe em off them tuck the sponge back however I am not suggesting that you try this as reaching for a sponge could cause you to lose control of the bike. I take no responsibility for this result also polish your visor well and they come off easier

Hi think might have sorted problem guy`s. one of the wires to fuse holder had a short (2inch) length of wire from a connector(why it was there have no idea, other wire went straight to fuse holder),found this short length of wire plus connector was so hot as you couldn`t touch it, so have cut both wires back to fresh wire and connected a new fuse holder, now , even after a good run both wires are ok to the touch. Touch wood hoping this has sorted it, thanks for replies Alan. Am in Boston Jack m8 well done m8 like I said high resistance generates heat Im in Spalding by the way -

The compression figures could be misleading if the compression rings are ok you would get good readings and if the scraper rings are shot it could burn oil and still give reasonable compression your description of the two plugs points to a ring problem when the engine is hot stand behind the car and have your daughter rev it hard if you get loads of blue smoke from a very hot engine it is unlikely that stem seals will cure it Hmm shoud have read trebors post first -

By ohms law volts times amps equals power this power dissipates as heat sorry couldnt resist still at it seriously I would suspect high resistance connections caused by corrosion around the fuse holder undo all the connections and clean with wire wool or similar abrasive to give good electrical contact give the easy bits a look first then look at more expensive items and ohms law still applies -

Help with my BSA please
Neill replied to Davehutch-hutchs's topic in Advice on Repairing and maintaining your bike
A hour later still off the bike it reads 6.21 voltsanother hour its 6.20 volts so going to leave it , out tomorrow so will check it tomorrow nite and if its settled down and sill above 6 volts will connect it up and see if its charging and check if it looses charge while on the bike It reads 6.16 volts this morning so would you say that the battery is or is this normal ? as alan said in an earlier post dave you need a drop test battery voltage off load is no indicator off its condition when under load IE with lights on and hooter pressed measure voltage then start engine and measure voltage with lights etc still on. when you put the battery on with the lights switched off take note whether there is a spark when you connect the leads as this could indicate an earth fault draining the battery, hope this aint baffled you m8 -

Today has been the first chance Ive had to get the bike out (hectic work schedule) anyhoo bikes not been used for 6 months,so choke on ign on push starter and it fired up in 3 seconds bit lumpy on tickover but the petrol is 6 months old left it running while I put the leathers on then off to Skeg for breakfast via the local BP station and 15 litre,s of petrol ouch.after a mile the motor lost any signs off lumpy running and purred along at 5000 rpm breakfast was worth the trip roll on me next day off
