Nope, won't transfer your no claims, but will transfer your points! Inscos are definitely getting tighter - getting stroppy about transferring from car to van and vice versa, most van insurance won't cover you to drive other vehicles, car policies not covering you to drive even a small car derived van, bike insurers now loading if you want to take a pillion etc. But you can still trim the cost usually by adding a middle aged woman as a named driver, or by putting that you have / or access to, another vehicle. And don't forget that the limit for transferring dormant NCD is now two years - which irritated me recently when I went to reuse one of my dead policies that had 9 years bike NCD (just because I refuse to have muti-vehicle ones) and it was 3 months too old

Depends on who you did the HPI check with - I've stopped using the cheapo ones now as I've probably had roughly 40% of them come back 'wrong' in the last couple of years. The 3 quid text check ones aren't worth a w*** either. If you got it done with one of the major ones (HPI, RAC, Experian etc) then believe that one mate.

Well, some grown up transport expert has said that the truck driver would not have seen the bike due to the blind spot caused by the nearside windscreen pillar. And to be fair, once your immediate turning space is clear, you spend the rest of your time in your left mirror concentrating on the back wheels missing the kerb and pedestrian (as you are taught to do, until they are clear of the back of the truck). By then the bike would have been in the blind sport - and then too close to be seen. But he did appear rather unconcerned with the biker's welfare though.

Some of them come with an ACU gold sticker, so they are deemed safe enough to use on track, but then again so are some awful cheapo full face lids. And I have to agree, I did get the odd moment where I thought that it may not hold up too well in an accident. Suppose it all comes down to personal choice in the end.

Pah, where's the fun in that? "Ebay Roulette" is an excellent pastime when there is some boredom to kill. Nothing like seeing if you can guess how much someone else has bid on something, and chucking in a bid with not long to go [1] Occasionally you get it wrong, and end up the winning bidder - but if I win I always complete the deal as a matter of principle [2]. While this has turned up stuff like some awful engraved faux-copper maps of ye olde Cornwall, a fuel pump for a helicopter, and the biggest pile of junk Saab that took a trip to Bangor to fetch, it also can turn out OK and you snaffle something at an OK price that you don't mind owning too much. Sniping software just takes all the fun out of it.... [1] I tend to bid with two minutes to go if it's >£500, and within the last 30 seconds if less (just for that bit of tension) but in 'hardcore' moments it's all-in with 7 seconds to go and just hope that the auto bids take you out [2] Unlike the chap who listed his 05 plate 320d with no reserve in the wrong category the other week, and refused to sell it to me for my winning bid of £3.20, despite paying immediately by Paypal
