Bullseye my friend. 82 mph. Unlucky, especially at such a low speed. I once came over that crest at something in excess of , but fortunately my boss was in the car in front I had to do a trip to Glasgow every two weeks - sometimes I didn't see any plod on the M74, sometimes they were at 5 or 6 spots - it got to the point where I just wouldn't chance it any more, chuck the cruise control to 78 and listen to the radio - even at 5 am! It's a bit like a wannabe independence tax - you pay at the bridge for Wales and at the speed traps for Scotland

Ditto, I'll read pretty much every post but only reply to ones that I think I can offer a contribution to. 600+ members is great going in a year though - I suppose Dave and Stu will have the stats on members posring numbers - it may well be that a lot join and never post or only post once or twice then disappear - I've done that on a few forums for various reasons. Perhaps the biggest issue was Dave using his Caravan Club badge as the logo until it got redesigned

The ebay / paypal arbitration thingy seems to be very skewed in favour of the buyer - add to that the inability to now leave negative feedback against a buyer, the last year has seen a bit of a jump in con artists in my fairly limited experience. The 'quick neg then offer to remove it if you get a quick refund' is fairly common. Definitely do the 'Send them back as they were and I will give you a refund' email and see what happens. If he does open a dispute then at least you have responded quickly and offered to resolve the situation. If it all goes sour you have the opportunity to reply to his negative feedback - just put something relevant like "Offered buyer full refund, he declined as was unable to return the carbs", which comes across as *much* more reasonable than some of the "bloke is a robbing muppet n a chancer, needs some windows to lick" style ones that you sometimes see. Don't worry about the negative feedback too much, I always make a judgement of the replies left and figure that everyone is likely to encounter one or two idiots on there. Good luck and don't forget to add the bloke to your 'blocked bidders' list to prevent him messing you about in the future.

As you say, the throttle works both ways, just give it a little bit of respect. Time on bikes measured in years is not the be all and end all - you could be riding for ten years and have done a total of 5000 miles, or be a relative newbie who clocks up 10,000 in a year.

Not a bad day at all really - 21 races in all with everything from superbikes to sidecars to karts, so something to appeal to everyone. Shame about the rubbish weather though, but still better than sitting at home watching the Eastenders omnibus

If you mean the 2 slits at the bottom of the bolts, they are not cracks they are meant to be like that and they should have pinch bolts on them. I have an SV frame here and have just double checked

Not me, although I do have to be up in, oh about an hour and a half as small child is off to Ashbourne to have a dabble at this racing malarky. On the plus side, I'm fairly confident of a Maccy D's on the way and the hour-by-hour weather forecast says that the rain will have stopped by half ten (first race, probably), which would be nice as he hasn't managed to sort out any wets! Qualifying might be a bit, err, timid though Enjoy your day, whatever you are doing

How do you know they were untrained? There is more than one 'right line' depending on the opinion of the trainer. Not saying that they were not being a plank, but it doesn't necessarily follow that they were untrained or a know-it-all. The problem with the public highway is the 'public' bit. I disagree to some extent - all the training and skill in the world won't help much if a Scania ploughs through a contraflow into you, or a speeding car comes over a hump back bridge on your side of the road and takes you out, *but* as the majority of advanced training is focused on observation, planning and awareness it helps you to avoid, or at least react better to a lot of 'near-miss' situations. Nowt wrong with trying to stack the odds in your favour a little bit
