looks like a mountain in the background of the last picture, got an odd memory of visiting wales, ages ago, we (family) were going through all these lovely scenic montain type roads and came across a little chef (ugly shed like building) or similar, it had a bleak unlandscaped car park yet it was prominently situated up high in this beautiful area - strong winds were blowing and loads of people sitting in cars with their engines running - don't know why that sticks in my adled mind. Can't remember much about the holiday!

it's all a bit too easy and tempting especially as there is the expectation of a bargain, with motorbikes they have to be reasonably local for me which many are not - that means factoring the fuel/getting there and no real possiblity of a look see first but then I'm in the budget zone. admit this is somebody being a bit cruel to a dog (not funny) but the idea is original -

will it hold? - find out tomorrow proprietary kit was not much use for 'v' like area on silencer as the two sets of pipes come together so a mix of what was to hand, steel wool and wire. Sounds better and short run into town worked out but the test will be the 200 miles odd away day tomorrow. while awaiting engine repair it makes sense to avoid sunstantial outlays. Hopefully the engine can be put right at reasonable cost and a new silencer duly purchased. couldn't part the silencer from pipes so welding not an option.

Decided to keep the bike unless mechanic finds the problem is too serious to make it an economic proposition (he says that he won't know how bad/minor issue of oil use is until he has it apart. Consequently holding up on silencer and tyres replacement until we know when he does the work in July. It's rideable but not really up to a longer m/way trip or haring around with the IAM crowd at present (they ride surprisingly fast). Thanks, found your comments useful, the regret factor, joys of tinkering issue, that it is an interest/hobby and above all the sanity/stress busting benefits .
