  1. easier to see latest posts without the list moving - thanks
  2. Anything in particular brought this on? oh, arpil fools day - caught me there! thought for the moment you were going to join the ranks of ex - motorcyclists who say 'I should never have sold that bike'
  3. our garage is straight onto the street so its a bit exposed for bike cleaning/fettling consequently the old heap getts little attention .
  4. downloaded a manual for my bike at work, somehow got distracted then (typically my luck) the boss came in to use the copier and found my guilty secret there. He went on and on about it.
  5. got a bit of a thing about mirrors, the stalk type ones that come with my bike bike don't allow good vision behind so I've gone for bar ends.
  6. you are so lucky - here it is mainly the land of the overcast sky and dull day, although so far, contrary to expectations, at the moment it's half decent. The weather people in the UK tend now to err on the side of caution having made a few blunders in the past.
  7. guess you have to be fit for that stuff
  8. dear oh dear - are things still as bad? queues, closed petrol stations? (Wife on shift work so I'm 'looking after' kids/animals).
  9. always a relief when a vehicle goes through without problems and expense - you must be keeping it in good order . Rode my previous bike for ages, MOT man pointed out the poor alignment of the wheels, felt a bit better on bends after!
  10. know anything about central heating? got one of these new fangled boilers that uses mains pressure except it's not supposed to be connected to the mains all the time. cutting out periodically with increasing frequency, alieviated by turning on the connecting tap to the mains, presumably there is a leak somewhere in our c/h circuit, no doubt under the floor somewhere inaccessible.
  11. very nice, are the mirror stalks extended?

    K1 Bandit 600

guessing but think it may also be that peeps have less to spend as a result of cut backs/pay increases (lack of)/decreased allowances. the recession (if that's what it is) seems variable, some people seem to still be doing quite well but reckon the majority are not. nevertheless, hope you sell your bikes, it's getting to be that time of year.
  13. me too - still haven't come to terms with the clocks changing
  14. suppose we all have our different regimes, our kids are more or less adults, well two of them are adults now with the financial cricis we are still operating as a family in one house. All the girls are untidy but me and the boy are more organised, can't not pitch in however if out on the bike don't see it. Some of those make up potions the girls use are really difficult to remove if split, maybe motorcycle product producers could learn a lesson on getting finishes to stick from that source. Can't cook, fortunately everybody else is good at that.
  15. cook as well? now that's impressive.
  16. Do you do any of the housework, you know , ironing, hoovering, cleaning that kind of thing?. need to keep the fuel I've got so no excuses for me.
  17. wonder if duff advice from senior ministers will put pressure on them/industry to sort it and avert a strike in order to avoid continuing blame for inept government handling of the situation.
  18. Muddled thoughts - this (self inflicted fuel shortage - seeing that there isn't actually a strike as yet) makes me think twice about riding as there's a chance of not being able to get more petrol which in turn makes me realise what a privilage it is to have that bike outside ready to hop on any time. Only now this freedom is threatened that there is a slight feeling of being trapped by circumatances. The old addage 'Don't appreciate it until it's gone' comes to mind, hopefully just a temporary hiccup.

    IM SORRY

didn't see your original post but I'm sure nobody holds grudges - this is the pleasantest forum I've come across.
  20. they are talking about £1.50 per litre this summer as the norm - that is about £6.75 a gallon. would a packet of twenty cigs be about £6.75 average?, don't smoke now so not sure.

    textile trousers

reading the comments seems we are as bad as the ladies (regarding handbags and shoes) when it comes to gathering bike gear, come to think I've three helmets, several jackets and loads of gloves too! Met a biker who said that when his partner noticed something he had bought for his bike or bike related he used to say, 'oh, I've had that for ages' I said something about good thinking He said, 'it's just what she says to me when I see she has a dress or coat I haven't seen before'
  22. Got some ixon bike trousers which have been fine although getting worn out and one zip tricky to use so taking a deco around for budget replacements, think these were about £77 four or five years ago. What do you guys use, leathers? I'm looking at Spada Podium at around £95 but also watching a few second hand items on ebay.
  23. if the tanker drivers do go on strike they will be so unpopular with the public, imagine there will be little sympathy for them seeing loads of us are not getting increments, having allowances and pensions reduced and as in my wifes case being forced to drop a grade to save the nhs money.
