  6. you're quite a guy, your post reminds me ogri's maxim:- ' STUFF EVERYTHING - I'VE ALWAYS GOT MY BIKE ...'
  7. hey I'm beginning to feel bad starting this now - just something that fascinates as people I know retire
  8. try turning the h/bars back or forward, loose bolts a tad/retighten to get a more comfy position, sounds like back might be best to get a bit of weight off your hands.

    new helmet (not)

got a caberg konda, about £120 a year or two ago - fits ok but needed a new visor, £40! Third of the price of the helmet.
  10. good to see positive views on retirement however just thought of something else, last year on a bike trip to the coast pulled in at these run down services.. couple of coaches there, parked right outside, this chap sauntered across and started making conversation is a haphazard/disjointed way turned out he had retired recently and his mrs had organised the coach outing, he seemed a bit at sea she came over and took him away after a while, not a good omen.
  11. looks v clean and in v good nick - see, from the reflection, you have a matching jacket
  12. makes me want to buy a bandit
  13. agree - wish they had got it wrong the other way round though.
  14. you hit the nail on the head.. that's my fear, i will end up spying on neighbours and being a general nuisance in the locality without that work discipline, hate to admit it..
  15. Where I work we have to use our annual leave by the end of March, system starts again in Arpil A friend had two weeks off, using accumulated leave otherwise he would have lost it Asked him how he got, he said he was bored and if that was what retirement is like he didn't care for it made me think about people I know who are now retired, the ones who were always into things still are and the ones who weren't do very little My best fiend, 'motorbike' Andy, got a retirement offer and he does virtually nothing - he isn't married. Another fiend liked a drink and now retired he's 'topped up' all day but nice with it - he is married Any thoughts please?
  16. how did you find things in general on your recent trip?

  18. nearly 120 mph in uk parlance, we are supposed to go over to metric but old habits die hard
  19. that rote thing we all recite before we go out, in my case I have to add ID/flexi card otherwise I won't get in at work and 'wallet' or I could be stuck without the wherewithall.
  20. not really used motorway jousting especially the M25 maelstrom, perhaps it's a case of if the kitchen is too hot get out. Get the occasional incident locally (M40) of course but not so evident.
  21. availability was fine thanks for you comments which encouraged me to do the first of two bank hol trips planned, didn't notice the price! just glad to get fuel.
  22. tested on a BSA Bantam, comical performance with the tester cutting through a link road to pop up suddenly with a newspaper in his hand for an emergency stop. Back to biking 4/5 yrs ago as needed to cheer myself up a bit with one thing and another, some people relax sitting out in all weathers fishing, with me it's a nice bike ride.
